In the words of Monty Python's John Cleese, "And now for something completely different."
To make a quick confession, I've been in love with vintage 1850s to 1900s dress designs for the last few years, and just Victorian/Edwardian fashion in general. During Inktober I doodled this out of boredom, but it ended up looking nice enough to try inking, and later coloring. I sent it to a few of my friends for fun, and due to the positive reception I figured "eh, why not" and decided to post it here. After adding a rose motif in coloration, I decided to try doing a few more flower-motif dresses, with the name of "Vintage Garden" to sort of tie the whole theme together.
Originally based off a 1902 fashion plate with the lace neckline, I wanted to draw something that looked extravagant while also carrying a hint of aloofness and potential danger. I think I might have gone a bit overboard with all the ruffles and bows though, and the reds and greens of the dress kind of make her look like a watermelon...

The hair is definitely one of my favorite parts to this as well, though it's a nightmare to properly replicate in other drawings.
