I'm planning on doing a Washington cosplay, do you have any suggestions on how to keep the armor on me? I was thinking of some kind of harness that main pieces clip onto and then other pieces clip onto them.

Oh man. This was years ago. One of my first cosplays. Β While I'm sure others have perfected the system, everything on me was kinda free floating. I did have straps from the thigh pieces to my belt piece to keep them up. And I did have a strap that ran between my biceps, over my shoulders. Your idea sounds good. I'd go with it. Also, I recommend checking out the 405th.com for more current builds of Spartans. That's where I learned 5 years ago and I'm sure they can help you now too.Β

looks awesome! I am about to buildΒ tex armor as well and its my first time using pepakura so I was wondering how do you scale a helmet lol sounds silly I have watched lots of vids but Im stuck and confused lol thanks and awesome job again

When I scale a helmet, I'll pick one dimension to go off of. Like the height. I'll measure what I NEED for my head and input that as a base amount. Then I'll look at the other measurements and adjust the height more until I know that my head fits in all dimensions and it doesn't look ridiculous. Β Hope this helps.Β

This is awesome. I'd love a Washington one, even though I am female, and would never want to be a Freelancer at all.

Thanks! This was one of my first cosplays.
Don't be afraid to do Washington just because your gender isn't right. My best friend ( also a girl) did him when I did Tex.Β
Just have fun!

how did you make it?
π: 0 β©: 1
AzureProps In reply to NotKitsune [2012-02-24 21:55:52 +0000 UTC]
A program called Pepakura, the 3d model of the the armor, cardstock and resin/fiberglass. I think there is more of an explanation in one of the other comments.

The 405th.com and replicapropforum have a bunch of threads that display how I myself and others go about making armor and props from Pepakura, a program that takes the 3d models and prints them out like paper puzzle pieces you glue together.
Here's a link to a quick tut I did for making a helmet with Pepakura: [link]

wow. makes me wish i had the program to do those 3d models.

AzureProps In reply to dragonlover030393 [2012-02-20 02:35:14 +0000 UTC]
The Pepakura program for viewing and printing models is free. And you don't need a 3d modeling program. You can find the pep files online and just use those. The 3d program is just for making the model.
If you really want to model your own, Gmax is a free modeling program.

thanks i'll keep that in mind,
but i might wiat until i'm accepted into
UAT. they've got an actualy 3D printer.
not sure how it works, but i'm sure i could figure it out
so i'll be able to make the armor.

Did you added bondo or itΒ΄s just resin and fiberglass and that?

The base is pepakura and resin/fiberglass. The detail is done with bondo.

You can start in the noob forum and read some of the stickies. They range from Pepakura stuff to how to assemble the entire outfit. Then download Pepakura viewer and the pep files you want. You can find the pep files at the Halo Costuming Wiki here: [link] Then size, print and build.

You print it on cardstock and use hot glue to connect it all. The viewer can be downloaded for free from it's website. Think it's pepakura.com or something like that.
