Description Is a genus of Carcharodontosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived in what is now North American during the early cretaceous period, 113 to 110 million years ago, Acrocanthosaurus only has a single species, A. atokensis.

Fossil remains are found in mainly in United states of Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming, a teeth attributed to acrocanthosaurus have been found as far east as maryland, suggesting a continent wide range.

Acrocanthosaurus is known for it's high neural spines on it's vertebrae which supported a ridge of muscle over the animal's back, neck and hips.

The forelimbs of Acrocanthosaurus did not make contact with ground and used for locomotion, they served a predatory function instead, possibly used to strangle it's prey from escaping.

Footprints possibly attributed to Acrocanthosaurus have been discovered in some parts of Texas county, it is impossible to identify which footprint it belongs to since there are fossils associated with it.
