Description A more rationalized version of the US flag.

Traditionally, in flags of the Canton design (like Australia or Taiwan,) the canton portion of the field takes-up the 1/4 of the total space. The US flag complicates this to some extent by having an odd number of stripes, making perfect quartering impossible. However the US flag has a blue field of roughly 1/6 of the total space, further accentuating the unusual proportions of the flag at 10:19. It's not 10:20 (or 1:2) mind you, that would be Imperial...and since America is "not quite an empire" the flag is "not quite imperial." There are just too many exceptions and quirks, I guarantee you a child could draw something that looks like a US flag but would never in a lifetime be able to draw one to spec.

This fixes much of that, while still being recognizable as the American Flag. The circular stars pays tribute to the original iteration of the US flag, back when rationality was a religion unto itself. It's also easier to distinguish at a distance and easier to reproduce. By making it a little shorter in length, we can get more harmonious proportions. For good measure, I also cheered-up the colours, which were too dull and dark a shade of red & blue, which turn purple & pink after too much sun, trust me. Anyways, the flag should celebrate the land, not mourn it.

Favoriting this because it's pretty, not many other reasons. I prefer the actual "insane" one.Β

Using 50 elements in a flag for representing 50 states is something absolutely stupid. Current flag of USA is among the most ridiculous flags in the world.

Even the EU capped the number of stars at 12, despite continuing to incorporate new states into the Union. America does have a tendency to do things for no other reason than the inertia of tradition, and then keep doing them long after it's become detrimental.Β

for comparison with today's to-spec US flag:

FUN FACT: the circular arrangement of stars was not simply for the 13-star Betsy Ross era. America has used circular arrangements of various numbers of stars off-and-on for roughly 47 years of it's total history.
