025 A Robot?

The AU heavily inspired by roywallydrabbles.tumblr.com ’s amazing drabble about Robot!Wally~

Everyone was quite surprized when Barry Allen just walked in, right in the middle of the meeting.
It wasn’t weird that he was late, because well…he always was.
The weird thing was, no one actually expected him there.
He had taken a leave of absence a few months ago, becasue he had a breakthrough in one of his projects, and decided to spend all his time working on it.
After almost a year of not hearing anything concerning Barry’s return, Oliver and Bruce figured he wouldn’t be back any time soon.
But no - There he was, during their usual meeting, late as always, but with a young man in tow.

Only upon closer inspection Bruce noticed, that the red head was not really a human.
"Please, welcome my new assistant, the very first, fully functional, humanoid robot- Wally."
Barry proudly introduced the bot, as if it were his own child, and well, it kind of was.
He did create him after all.
Wally turned out to be extremely polite and cheerfull. It was weird, thinking of him as just a machine, after watching him move, talk and interact like a human.

Oliver actually laughed out loud, when the robot apologized for them being late, and promised to work on Barry’s punctuality, even though he’s been working on that ever since he was created,and so far there was no visible progress on Barry’s part.
He was incredibly good at organizing things, he was very fast, and there was no job that he was afraid of doing.

Barry had actually taken all those months off work, so he could make sure, that Wally had everything he needed to be most efficient, and also as human as possible.
He sheepishly informed his co-workers, that his 'design’ was actually inspired by Barry’s wife- Iris.
(As if it wasn't obvious the moment Wally stepped through the door. duh.)

He showed them photos of Wally’s first versions.
(Much to Wally’s horror. No one wants your 'baby’ pictures shown around to people you just met.
Jeez. He was so bulky back then. He couldn’t walk, because his generator was too big and heavy, and the didn’t have any skin yet, so all the wires vere uncovered.)
Everyone learned that day that robots actually can get embarrassed.

Wally was programmed with all of Barry’s knowledge, along with him being an extremely quick learner.
Bruce didn’t waste any time in hiring him into his labs.
Barry said that there will be no more modifications of Wally, seeing as the project is very time consuming and expensive, to which both Oliver and Bruce replied, that the money was no problem, and they should keep on making progress.
(That was, of course after Bruce tripple checked everything and made sure that Wally was in fact one hundred percent safe to be around.)

Then they went to talk about business concerning the company, and Wally was not really needed during the conversation.
So he left a little camera on the table, so he could hear everything and add to the database later, before leaving the office.
Bruce asked him if he could tell his ward that the meeting will run a little longer then expected.

He met Oliver and Bruce’s wards chatting over coffee in the waiting area.
They both weren’t really interested in today’s meeting, so they decided to sit this one out, and just enjoy each others company.

When they first noticed Wally, they thought he got lost, or was just some intern, making coffee for his boss.
He then spotted them and happily introduced himself, letting them both know about the meeting taking longer then it was planned.
At that moment, 18 year old Dick Grayson asked about the voice modulator, that was apparently on Wally’s neck, and the bot happily explained that he was in fact, a humanoid robot, made by the most wonderfull Barry Allen, before proceeing to fall into a deep conversation with both Roy and Dick about how he worked, what he could do and what modifications were there to add to the future.
He also said that maybe in some years, there will be a new verision of him, that for the time being is called 'Bart' , but it’s not even in Alpha testing now, and would take years to make.

Wally was a little scared of getting replaced, but didn’t say that out loud.
After all, that’s what the machines were for.
They work and when they are no longer of use, you replace them with a newer version.

For now he would happily do his job.
He just got started in the big world and had so much things to work on.
He also apparently got two new friends, because both Roy and Dick asked if they could meet again, when he had free time.
It was truly an amazing day for Wally.

He was replaced five years later.
When Bart came out and he was much faster, smarter and had the Allen family eyes.
Wally had all his memories removed and his body was stripped down and put in the archives of Wayne Industries.
He was to remain there for the rest of time.

Until a year later, when Roy and Dick bought his parts from the company and started working on putting him back together.
They were getting their friend back.
