Description This is my little brother Jonny, who got so attached to a guitar i got about two years back. He used it so much more than i did and now he's starting to perform a little. He unwinds everyday playing that guitar. it's his energy.

-- one of my oldest photos taken with a film camera, light painting technique used, no post edit whatsoever. won in a contest with some photography judges from Reuters.

just resized it a bit smaller coz it's actually pretty grainy. boo.

aww haha thanks so much geri, i'm doing pretty good. came out of two very hectic weeks at work. i wanted to submit a new drawing i made.. i gave myself a friday deadline, eh that was friday last week pa. hopefully i'll have it up this week.

yeah i miss doing light painting . i'll try again sometime soon.

hmmmm.... i don't like the background...it's completly cutted out...

it's too...photoshopped (??). I mean it looks like treated with dodge/burn...

I assume he was laying on the floor ??

as i said, no photoshop whatsoever.
it's light painting, you should study up on that technique.
but yeah. it's very hard to control. things get overexposed quite easily, and framing is tough since you're working in 100% darkness.

You mean you made this photo using dark room, and one light source ? And using that light source you "painted" (by moving it) your laying brother right ? Long exposure ? Or i make mistake ??

Well.. i made some pics withe the technique I'm trying to explain here But i used a laser marker/pointer (it's more like light drawing )

Hope u understand what i meant because I bearly do

hehe aw thanks, yeah it won first. got some money for the prize.. hehe that was sweet. um yeah i know i haven't been submitting lately. i find myself working longer and longer on each new image. i get more meticulous. the next thing you'll see is a drawing. pretty new stuff. yeah.

soooooo soooo precious!! i read the description yesterday, before u updated it, said something like "he's not really good" (soooomething like that) but i'm glad to read you updated the description, the guy is making progress and doing performances and all...wat to go Jonny

Light painting is hard to do effectively without coming off...bland, luckily it doesnt apply here Your subject has more than enough character and emotion, the lighting adds even more mood. I love this

yeah light painting. it's when you put your camera on for a fairly long time (like 5 seconds up).. long exposure and you make a light source dance around an object.
here my brother was on the floor in a totally dark room. i put my camera on a tripod and set it at 30 seconds. this means he can't move (even breathe if possible) for that long. then with a flashlight i hit the light around him and the guitar. it's a trial and error thing.

there are a few more light painting images in my gallery. look at "Ala" and "So HIgh". you can use flashlights. glowsticks, fire, lasers, focused lamps, celphones, whatever.it's fun.
