Somehow I can't bring myself to believe that you painted this. It really looks like a photo that was painted over.

Thanks! Considering you can see where the darkest part of the nostrils are before she even 'paints' them, really gives
the impression of a reworked photo.

not to mention there's a whiteish cutoff line around the eye sockets... ah, sad.

Holy crap......this is amazing. It's so good that I don't think I can even use the process for my art, since I do cartoony type stuff.

the thing with this is that the tutorial is too well explained and sinthetized that makes this brilliant. i tried it with a picture of a model from channel... just when i saw this and the results were fantastic. thanks, art like this makes people inspired to do much and more and to go further ...it really helped! hope to keep up with you.

Looking at the varying quality of your work I truly believe this is a reworked photo

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

b0o-b0o In reply to micdaddy [2011-04-01 09:08:04 +0000 UTC]

I have many different styles, from realistic digital painting, to sketchy/painterly like painting and then I have vexels and vectors. I use a variety of programs too from Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator, so of course my work varies.

b0o-b0o In reply to UnKnOWnPiRaTeQuEEn [2008-04-13 02:52:38 +0000 UTC]

I can't remember if that was CS or CS2 back then. I have CS2 now so I think it was probably photoshop CS. But you can still get the same results with another version of photoshop such as 7.

This is an excellent tutorial - I'm just starting to use a tablet, and I had no idea it was so much more difficult than graphite drawing, but with tutorials like these, the task of learning to paint digitally has just become a little bit less impossible - I'm working on my first serious digital painting and your tutorial so far has been a great help, even though I use Painter instead of Photoshop.

Again, thanks for such a comprehensive, well-ordered tutorial

b0o-b0o In reply to ElStormo [2007-11-28 11:28:34 +0000 UTC]

wow I am really glad you found it informative. Well done for using Painter, I have Painter but don't know how to use it properly so I always use photoshop or a combination of the two
I wish I had tutorials like this when I first started, though there are some good ones out there they are too hard to follow
good luck with your painting, be sure to send me the link once it is done

ElStormo In reply to b0o-b0o [2007-11-28 11:44:24 +0000 UTC]

It's actually Painter Essentials (got it with my Wacom and so far it suits me just fine), and yeah, I imagine not having any tutorials like you made when startign out must be difficult - I'm glad some people have already paved the way for me

If you'd like I'll gladly let you know when it's done, but as I said, I'm still practicing, so don't expect too much
