Description 9" x 11" done in Winsor and Newton Premium Watercolors. This is a larger painting of mine. I usually am painting ACEO's lately and got tired and wanted to do some real watercolor techniques. So the background is a salt n spatter technique. Wet in Wet on forground water. Paint bristle effect under ivy. There are tons of layers on this to get the smooth scaley appearance of her body and the smooth shading on the skin. I also lifted alot to get the nice smooth highlight. I'm trying to mimic the effects that the digital artists can get with the photomanips in watercolor. I'm getting alittle closer. It was fun to do. My scanner won't scan the flosphorecent pink in the hair so this greyish pink will have to do. It's 9 x 11 with a 1/4 inch border.

I like going alittle larger at times and get alittle crazy with the paint. splatters and sprays are fun.

I felt good about this painting and it was fun. It is larger than my usual and I could actually paint instead of staying within the confines of an area. I was splattering and dabbing and just goofing off alot. Much of my work is ACEO (2.5" x 3.5") sized trading cards making it is easy to ship but can't get crazy on them like this one. Thank you also for the nice comment.

Wooh..your mermaids are the prettiest I often enjoy traditional art more than art made on computer. So your watereffects are just perfect. I find watercolor more vivid and exiting than any other material. Do you do any art-trades by the way. Or ACEO-trades?

My highest goal is to get some of those great computer effects that the manips are getting with the software. I think I can do it but it's taking alot of work. Alot of fading.

I'm glad it didn't turn out like a checker board.

It helps having the shine down her tail I think.

The shine and what I did is add a tiny bit of yellow to mute the whole thing so it didn't look like a clown.
