This year, tune in for a month-long tribute to Jim Henson. Jim and the muppets are a long-standing and deep source of inspiration to me and millions of others; I hope some of you are excited to be along for the ride.

The theme of the art for the month is AUSTERE. My thought is not to draw the characters, but to draw the physical object; the puppet, if you will. To objectify, to document. To give it a sense of physicality, of austerity. It won’t be easy, and I’m sure I’ll encounter plenty of frustration, but that’s art i guess. I’m excited to give it a go. Likewise, the captions this month will be much longer and more in-depth; a kind of director’s commentary. Feel free to skip over it, but I want to describe my ideas and thought processes as I work my way through this. Too pretentious? I hope not.
