my ideas for my re-designed Cloverfield monster

CLOVER's redesign does not have to look anything like the actual creature, but it MUST contain the following:
- 6 limbs
- Carnivorous
- Aquatic/amphibious
- A tail
- Some strange form of breathing

My redesign idea for Clover

First of all I just want to say the first time I saw the original Clover I really laughed a long time, it really reminds my of an anorexic Orga or something like that. Okay so my main basis for the idea is the combination of an alligator snapping turtle and a salt water crocodile.

The main body is bulky and kind of heavy, but it is meant to be an aquatic creature primarily. The head is rather large, however this is due to the monsters great jaw pressure, its powerful enough that can easily bite through steel. Its tongue is used like a lure when in the water, while holding still in shallower waters it uses it like a worm wriggling back and forth. It uses it for luring in larger prey which can consist of sharks, dolphins, orcas, and even the occasional curious whale. Its neck can extend out to twice its length and attack with its powerful jaws (I envisioned this ability being used in the scene where clover attacks the chopper with the main characters in it).

as for its body its actually quite small, but wide. It's sternum is similar to that of a birds breastbone, this supports the two larger front limbs. the shell on top of the monster is a defensive structure, but it is different from that of a turtles, the shell is split into different segments that have the ability to open up to reveal its lungs. A special protective lining that encases the lungs expands to enable it to breath on land, instead of actively breathing hard because it is an aquatic creature, its outer lung sacks utilize osmosis to exchange CO2 for O2 across its membrane. Underneath these shell plates exist a type of parasite that feeds on blood from the creatures lungs, once on land the small creatures are expelled from their main source of food and seek out other sources, human beings!

Its large upper arms are powerful and its primary way of defending itself and acquiring food, its talons on the hands have rear curved hooks like fish hooks so that it can catch prey with ease. With a wide range of motion, these arms can be used like that of a human swimmer swimming the breaststroke while in the water. With webbing between all of its appendages toes and fingers and a slight webbing in the elbow of its larger forearms, it has superior acceleration and maneuverability while in the water. The way it walks is sort of lumbering, the rear legs are powerful, but they are splayed out to the sides and don’t support its weight well while on land. Its smaller front arms are useful while walking, they support the heavy front half of the body while the rear legs catch up.

Its main source of power is its tail, it has a deployable tail fin in the rear that can fold up while on land. When in water, a few quick swipes of the tail and it reaches its top speed of 40 knots. Near the rear of the tail there are located two relatively small fins on either side of the tail, these fins are able to adjust the trim of the creature, allowing it to make agile maneuvers while swimming.
