I really like this design, It would have have been cool an articulated locomotive that wasn't a garratt.

Here's my inspiration:
1. Britain had no articulated tank engines (garratts aside)
2. America had never made an articulated tank engine (To my knowledge)
3. It's my sprite, I'll do what I want.

Yep, it's a really cool concept, and it's pretty interesting that it's stronger than 9f and fast, those two things usually don't come together. A very unique engine indeed

The only engine in the same league as the Z1 is the LNER P2.

yep, it's a shame the P2's and P1's were basically retired right after WWII they were retired before the end of steam, Thompson really took his jealousy of gresley too far!

Thomson is just a monster. I will never forgive him after what he did to GNR 1470/LNER 4470

Yep, he changed locomotives to get rid of gresley influence and ruined their reputation by doing so.

Yep, they were thankfully spared, I don't even want to think about, what would've happened if he had.

And then there was the peppercorn A1. One was supposed to be saved, but Thomson's B1 "Mayflower" was instead.

Yeah, the b1's were ok but an A1 definitely had more historical significance

This would've been great use back in The Age of Steam in real life.

It was meant to match up to the strength of a BR class 9F, believe it or not.

I like this design

It's a mix of a few designs.
The main design is a BR standard class 2MT 2-6-2 tank engine
The valve gear is based off of the USATC S100/SR USA class Tank Engine
The articulation is somewhat based off of Union Pacific #3895.
It's louder than an LMS black 5, more powerful than a BR standard 9F, and almost as fast as a GWR Kings class. It's also worth mentioning that one of the three members built of the class was painted in BR Brunswick Green, as it was a heavy-duty passenger engine. That same engine set a speed record of 106.3 MPH with a 872.5 ton express. Not only was the class' all time speed record, but it was the closest ANY steam engine had ever come to beating LNER #2507 "Papyrus"'s record for being the fastest un-streamlined steam engine, with a top speed of 108.?? MPH.
