Description Rendered in DAZ Studio 4A.
Postwork in Photoshop.

I've decided to upgrade to DAZ Studio 4 Advanced and been playing around with Genesis and Victoria 5, and decided to remake my models with the new figures. I like the way the new figures pose better than the old ones, but I wish the clothing converter worked better.

It also seems that the render times are alot faster than DAZ Studio 3 and I can work with more geometry. The lighting seems a little bit different too.

Anyway, this is the Genesis version of Vania.

How did you get her ears to point without the hair following? I've been trying to fix that for a while now

Select the hair prop and go to the parameters tab and open up the actor menu. You will see the same morphs in there as the ones for the figure. Just set all the sliders for the ear morphs to zero.

She looks a bit older now than she did before...but maybe that's just the pose and lighting.

Looks good. If it's better than 3 I may have to give it a try. 3 never worked well for me so I never really used it.

Bad-Dragon In reply to WickedPrince [2012-02-02 02:29:40 +0000 UTC]

Really? I thought 3 was much better than 2.

WickedPrince In reply to Bad-Dragon [2012-02-04 12:05:51 +0000 UTC]

I could never get 3 to do anything for me. I think I managed to get all of two renders done with 3. 2.3 on the other hand has been completely stable for me all along. That's not to say it's never crashed, but when it does I can usually figure out why - too many transparencies for instance - and then it was always because I was purposely pushing things to see how far I could get. My Elmer Fudd's Folly pic would never have loaded in 3.2 for instance.

Looking good. If I may ask, how does Genesis handle vs. V4? That is, it is better on system resources, worse?

I can't really tell any difference besides faster render times.

I still have the Daz 4 basic although I have upgraded it. Genesis is a nice idea but is slow as sin to do anything with. Still Vania looks good

I think i've fallen in love all over again, she has transferred across to the new platform very successfully imho, regarding the morph point above, I think you could use GenX from Daz to transfer the original morphs over, its 30+ dollars tho, and i agree with autofit, can be quite hit and miss.

Lovely render.

Bad-Dragon In reply to IanTP [2012-01-31 09:00:53 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I think I would rather redial all the morphs than spend 30 dollars, lol.

I like the Genesis figure, but there aren't alot of clothing props yet, and I'm still getting used to the difference in the lighting.

thus, even genesis looks impressive, DAZ4 sucks.
