She sauntered into my office in a cloud of cigarette smoke and 'Evening In Paris" perfume. Said her husband had fallen out of a 6th floor window. Wanted to know what I could make of it.
Found out it wasn't her first husband. Not even her second. All of 'em six feet under. Was it a double-cross or was someone crossing her?
I smoothed the brim of my fedora and told Gladys to put on a fresh pot of Joe. It was gonna be a long night.
