It makes me so angry they're tearing it down. Replace it with bigger and better. It's such a piece of history...and I don't think I'll ever get to see it in person. Alas, I like the piece because it feels like I could actually be there.

Yup. I think it's my last picture of the place. At least until they review their ban on bringing camera's into the freakshow. Or until I can figure a way to smuggle one in.

LOL - the last time I was there, I nearly went into the freak show. Such a shame about Coney Island - you know they plan to knock down the whole place and just leave the Cycloneand build housing on the area...!
Surely there has to be a campaign to stop that.

Well I talked to the people who run the Freakshow and they say they've bought the building so they're staying. I was there on a bright sunny Sunday and the place was pretty empty (as you can tell from the pix) so I guess there just isn't enough money coming in to make it worthwile for most people. It's a shame but understandable. I didn't know they were leaving the Cyclone but I'm pleasantly surprised. They did the same thing with the 1965 Worlds Fair > [link] ...which is something else I should get out to and photograph

Yep - the Cyclone is staying, which is good to know. When I was there -it was a sunny sunday and pretty packed - but is it really about whether the park has enough custom, or the fact that the land is worth a small fortune...
