Delinfi [2005-02-11 15:34:56 +0000 UTC]

I love it! Most people go with the lower shutter speed with water, to get the "motion" look, But I much prefer this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

badman22 In reply to Delinfi [2005-02-11 15:37:10 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! And I use a slower shutter at times when it comes to flowing water, but I thought this needed the higher shutter speed to "freeze" that moment of energy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Delinfi In reply to badman22 [2005-02-11 15:43:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it works well with smaller creek-type waterfalls and whatnot, and though it would have benn interesting in a shot like this, the faster shutter is much more powerful.

I'm glad you agree.

that looks incredible Bruce I really love the flow of the ice and the water splashes. There is so much movement in this photo.

Thanks, Lainy!! I was really hoping to capture the energy of the lake. I'm glad you think I did.

I love the contrasting images in this...motionless water, frozen...as opposed to the movement of water in motion..the spray! Very lovely and thoughtful shot!

You are so very welcome, Bruce!! I love that concept!! Was that what you had it mind?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

badman22 In reply to chucksgal [2005-02-11 15:08:28 +0000 UTC]

Yes. I wanted to capture the energy of the water, with the backdrop of the solidness of the ice. It's like the two powerful forces of water all in one capture.

chucksgal In reply to badman22 [2005-02-11 19:45:46 +0000 UTC]

It is a wonderful contrast! I think you did capture opposing forces quite well!!

Thanks, Nicky!! And I don't remember, but it was a while. For all the splash shots I got...probably an hour.

I just love how you seem to be capturing motion, taken just at the right moment. I love the icicles. Makes me think of Niagara Falls in the wintertime, such a frosted beauty.
