Description This is my second halloween picture, yay! pirates!

Anyway, after doing Witchy Girl, I kinda felt like I should do all of (or most of) the cliche costumes that you see on halloween. A type of halloween theme that I feel like doing.

So this is the second installation of the series. My little pirate girl and her parrot eating, pegged legged, patched eye, monkey. The box is a little off, but that will all be remedied in the final color. But for now, here you be! Enjoy!

That peg-legged monkey is quite possibly the coolest thing I have ever seen in my life. Fine work indeed.

Thank you! I was quite proud of it myself, I'll hopefully color it in the future.

I like the costume and the monkey alot. The beaded necklace shes holding is a good concept. Are you going to put any detail into the monkey and her hands when you color it? gonna have a background? wow lots of questions

Hehhe, well, I'm going to try and do as much as I can. Detail, stuff, yep, stuff..

A parrot eating monkey ... who would've thought of that.

Maybe that's why Barbossa had a monkey and not a parrot? ^_^

Probably, you know how bothersome those damn parrots can be!

Lmfao, yes, that's EXACTLY what they say about big hands.

Where they are big hands, there are big gloves!

I like it, but her posture looks really unnatural to me, like she has a stick up her ass or is about to fall over or something... I like her outfit though, corsets are sexy. I'm drawing a burlesque girl wearing a corset right now actually.

Badnewsbear In reply to Ming-a-Ling [2003-10-15 05:08:03 +0000 UTC]

hehe, yea. The stance was such a pain in the ass, mainly because of her legs. She's suppose to have that Jack Sparrow type of stance. So I guess, in a way, I managed to get it down. Hehe.

But yea..I did the best I honestly ould with her stance.

And corsets rule!

I'm not saying it's bad or anything, it just looks like it could be like one frame of an animation during a walk where you the pose by itself doesn't look quite right, but within the sequence it would look fine. I'm thinking if you just rotated the head so it was looking more at the viewer (to her right some more) and tilted it down it would look really cool and sexy, almost like a really "I'm badass, don't fuck with me" pose. The way the legs are curved with her torso and stomach is really great, so i really think it's just the head throwing it off. I had a photography teacher who once told me when you curve a womans body to put it in more of an 's' shape and don't keep the head symmetrical with the shoulders. Now I don't know how credible he is in the world of photography, but I've noticed it really works in alot of cases.
Anyways, good job, can't wait to see what else you do.

Long live the corset.

Nah, I didn't take if offensive. The posing was hard..and I was having a tough time with it, but I also couldn't really figure a good way out as to fix it much. Eh, we'll see what it looks like upon being colored (let's hope it gets colored at least..X.o I was having a tough time drawing period today, I can't even beginning to say how many times I blue lined her legs. It was crazy.

Well you got the legs good. Before you color it you should re-sketch it with just a few minor changes till you get the posture right.

Are you going to use markers on it??

Badnewsbear In reply to Ming-a-Ling [2003-10-15 06:05:34 +0000 UTC]

the legs are good? O.o; Maybe it's just the way we look at it, cause honestly, the top part looks awesome to me, and the legs are a bit iffy..:

And I never color on the original. It might be colored via photoshop..

at any rate, I'm to the point of..almost not caring, meaning i need sleep. So..i go sleep.

Ming-a-Ling In reply to Badnewsbear [2003-10-15 15:57:33 +0000 UTC]

heh, really? I think the bottom part looks good and the top part is iffy...mainly how the head is positioned. It reminds me of this kid I went to school with who had a really messed up neck and always had to hold his head like that. I still think if you tilted the head to her right some more, or maybe even dropped the right shoulder it would look fine.

Badnewsbear In reply to Ming-a-Ling [2003-10-15 18:49:26 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, odd how people look at it. Well, I'll see about it. I'm not going to bother with it right now, mainly cause I want to start on another one.

I've decided, the next one? It's going to be little red ridding hood, oh yeah!

Nice work. I like how you did this in a similar way as your witch (you even gave her a pet), however I'm not sure how well the hair curls go with a pirate.

You should draw a ninja next. You know because they go so well with pirates. I see them alot on halloween too.

Badnewsbear In reply to TheAenigma [2003-10-15 05:10:03 +0000 UTC]

Lmfao, thanks! Yea, I didn't give her as many hair curls as with the witch. Mainly very angular type dreadlocks. I should probably have given her more dreaklocks.

Heheh! A ninja. That's a possibility, but I'm thinking I'm getting the main monsters down first, the next will probably be either a mummy, or a werewolf.
