Description
"The ancient Greek historian Herodotus recounts a Scythian myth whereby Zeus married the daughter of the great river Dnieper. The couple had a son named Targitai, the first man. The latter had three sons named, respectively, Lipoxai, Arpoxai, and Colaxai who, in their turn, gave life to the three branches of the Scythian people. One day, a yoke (hic!), a plow, an ax and a goblet—all made of gold—fell from the sky, and Colaxai was the only of the three brothers who managed to gather the godsends. Thus, he became the ruler of Ancient Scythia. The legend gave the name of ZOLOTOYE YARMO (Russian for "Yoke of Gold") to the mountain I pictured in this graphic work. This mountain is, in fact, a northwestern spur of the greater Dolgorukovskaya Yayla near Simferopol (capital of Crimea, Russia) in the very heart of the ancient Scythian civilization. A few decades ago, archeologists found the remains of a IV-century A.D. Scythian fortress atop Zolotoye Yarmo which, in its turn, had been build on the ruins of an even older Tauric settlement. Heaven knows just how many more archeological treasures and historic mysteries have yet to be unveiled in the intricately winding crest of this magnificent mountain."

Soy medio ruso/medio ucraniano y soy bilingüe.

Magnificent, your art! Where have the Scythians gone? I guess the Romans overwhelmed them?

Thank you) No one knows for sure where they went, most probably got assimilated by the many peoples that invaded our sweet little Crimean peninsula. We, Crimeans and Southern Ukrainians, probably have a bit of ancient Scythian DNA in our blood.

It looks magnificent!...Like a huge city .I wonder what hidden things there are ???.......
Somebody digging in a field nearby to where I live found copper and gold painted shaped pieces and they turned out to be parts of a life size horse from the Roman visitors we had 2 thousand years ago...I find that so exciting.

Wow, what a find. I'd be excited, too. The mountain was home to a local Scythian tribe about 2000 years ago. Archeologists worked there in the mid 90s and found some stuff. A few millennia before that, it was home to the Tauric people of the Kizil-Koba culture. You can still see some remains of their cromlechs and dolmens. Even my apartment building stands above an ancient Scythian cemetery referred to as the Bitak cemetery. Seems like I live inside a huge time machine)
