some people may feel this version of Sherlock a little out of character,but to be honest,this is my favorate version.I even become a fan of RDJ after seeing this film.PUPPY-EYES DETECTIVE MAKES ME CRAZY!!LOL

Personally, I think Ritchie's take on the Sherlock Holmes universe is brilliant and the most true to form version there is. It was never explicitly stated in the text that Holmes was taller than Watson, nor that he ever wore a deerstalker cap at all. He was only described as lanky with dark eyes, dark hair, and sharp features. There's nothing that RDJ's done in his portrayal that leads me to believe otherwise about Sherlock, and certainly, Jude's John is magnificent. Completely my image of Watson in the reading. In fact, this is the only Holmes and Watson I picture whilst reading, over all other adaptations. The only questionable role was Rachel McAdams' as Irene Adler, but that's always iffy considering a romantic relationship between Irene and Sherlock was never even implied in the novels. It seems every film version seems to take it that way, though. I'm Holmes/Watson through and through.

Just because in the past movies and TV plays about Holmes showed an image that Holmes is taller than Watson,and Watson is only a unimportant valet or Holmes' biographer,most people believe that is the 'right' image about Holmes and Watson.BUT IT NEVER EXPLICITLY STATED IN THE Doyle's NOVEL!=<
In Ritchie's movie,Watson is as important as Holmes,and he can give real help to Holmes,not just runnning after the detective.Their relationship is equal,two-way and interdynamic.That is another reason I love this movie.lol
I've questioned the relationship about Holmes and Irene in the movie as well,but,well,after all,sometimes a movie of old story needs some initiations.So just let it go.XD

Well in my opinion it's not out of character at all. It's only a matter of personal tastes, you know? Sometimes people talk about their personal tastes as if they are the truer truth in the world, and it's extremely rude and not correct and full of self-pride. *sighs*
Guy Ritchie's version is my favourite too, together with the russian Holmes. I've seen every version and readed the books several times, and those are my tastes *winks*
