Remember when "The Shining" was known as one of the worst horror movies ever made?Because I sure don't since I wasn't born when it came out.

The shinning was also hated for having really bad Spanish dub...Kubrick had the idea that he just needed people that sounded like the people did in english.

The poeple that he selected acording to the people that worked in dubbing were hand picked by Kubrick himself, the problem was that he pick only the people that sounded like the people in english (which is not bad itself) and force them to say their lines in such way that while sounded creepy in english in spanish it was just silly

Jack is his name, but he calls himself "Johnny" in the movie with the "Here's Johnny" scene.

You know thinging about it, jack's name could be Johnny but People Nickname him jack for short. Or hos middle name is Johnny.

No it's Jack and he never calls himself Johnny in the book, it's just something they added in the movie.

I dunno about everyone who disliked/plain hated The Shining, but I loved it!

It was mainly critics and Stephen King himself, I think there were some viewers who disliked it too,
but as years passed people praised it for how cinematic amazing it was, and it later on became a cult classic.

Although what the show do manage to get right and well is Jack's character.

Well, there’s an important link in to the Dark Tower, but you have to be patient to get to it. Certain real life controversies are... used to brilliant effect in it. I suppose that’s a big part of why it hasn’t been filmed.

Can you imagine “Gerald’s Game” being filmed? It would have to be the NC-17 version of “Inside Out”. 75% of the film would be staring at a naked woman in fetish attire, chained to a bed for days while going through the corridors of her mind, all while her husband’s corpse is slowly being eaten by a starving dog just a few feet away, and that’s not even the scary part!
