This one isn;t quite working. The drawn edge looks more like a heavy matte line. I would probably feather that a bit and maybe make the top of the big rock a bit darker to account for the strong back-lighting.

I reduced the edge a tad and I darkened the top a bit as well. The changes are a bit rough but is this sort of what you were picturing? Thanks a lot for the comment, appreciate it

Ok good, I'll try to make the darkening a bit more smooth with a few finishing touches. Really appreciate the feedback. Do you see anything else that could be improved?

Any time. With these backlit images, you can push the darks in the foreground objects more than you think to heighten the contrast. It's like taking a photo of a wall with a big window on a sunny day. The window looks painfully bright and the walls look dark. It's the same sort of thing.

I think you're on the right track. You can play more with color schemes, but that's for later.
