Description
Drifting into the realm of being, the Egyptian God Duamutef, son of Horus, is born into life within the cradle of a Lotus.~~~~
A long overdue collaborative commission between myself and Lorien for the excellent and supremely patient Duamutef.
I rarely take commissions these days as my everyday work has me fairly backlogged and I still owe a few older pieces(eep), but sometimes a piece comes along that just begs you to answer the call. So was the case with this one. Even from conception, after hearing the idea, I immediately felt the ache to color the vision. Lorien provided the beautiful sketch upon which we could realize this vision fully. I sometimes struggle with the sketch stage and just want to paint, so thankfully I was spared that and could just release myself into the embrace of color and light.
This is one piece I could tinker on forever and it finally took being shaken and verbally scolded(many times) into calling it done

This piece is so beautiful and gorgeous that it caught my eye right away.
I am so in love with all the intricate little details you painted in, like the veins in the leaves and the gold streaks within each individual petal. And those feathered wings!
I really like how the little golden tendrils are highlighted in a way that makes them seem to glow with life, as well as the ethereal glow around the character. Everything about the gold highlights gives the piece such a divine feel. Their brightness and vibrancy also really brings out the darker greens and blues, I think (and I am so in love with that particular shade of blue in the lotus petals!). c:
I also admire the shape of the character's body, and how his features and form have been painted in so that you can see all the muscle and bone definition underneath. ouo
It probably helps that I really love Egyptian deities as well, eheh.
