Nop, this one goes more on the mayan culture. Huehuecoyotl was an aztec god depicted as a coyote... and now that I think about it, I should give it a go on the animal gods.

The old man in mayan mythology is Itzanma, the father, the first god
"Tzib" is serpent (Also "Kan"... there's a different, but only in deeper meaning). "Ah" it's lord. But in this case, the meaning of Balam Tzibtah (Lord Serpent Jaguar) it's for those who kept the "secret meaning of the writing/drawing". They were the ones in charge of keeping the 13 layers of meaning of every glyph.
