i shoot with a tamron as well (just got it) isn't it almost impossible at 2.8 to get focus just what you want? I tried, even in auto or manual, it won't focus on the exact spot I want and see through the view finder... or even defined by the camera (auto or manual). Does that happen to you as well? Do you take multiple shots?

A little remark:
This shot is made with f/5.0, but the flowers are really small, so the DoF was way too shallow when i used f/2.8, like if i managed to focus on the foremost part of it, the sharp pert would only be like 1/3 of the flower's area. So i had to use a flash. Not a dedicated macro flash, just ordinary one.

I used fast sync flash mode, so that i got a really short exposure time (1/250). I tried using slow sync, but it sucked

Yes, i focused, moved back a little, then made several shots while slowly moving forward
