Description This is my "All-arm Clock". See what I did there?

Okay, it looks nothing like a clock but a while ago I had this idea that for anatomy reference, and especially with foreshortening in mind, I should do extended arms detailing all the musculature at the same angles as the hours on a clock face. That way, whenever I wanted to draw for example,a flying super hero, I could look at this and use it as reference.

how do yo make these studies? do you use photo refs? if so where do you get the pics from? BTW great studies all of them

Bambs79 In reply to el-douglas [2013-01-07 22:47:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, a lot of them come from photo refs which I try and simplify - trying to break the anatomy down into simple line work. I get the pics from the net, all public domain. I try and pic photos that have dynamic poses or extreme foreshortening.

Thanks buddy. Checked out the link, never seen that book before. Looks like it got some poor reviews though sadly. I think that Fabry's got some great movement in his sketches but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of reference.

Thanks for pointing it out dude, cheers!

yeah, not much detail wont help as shape ref but I kinda like it as motion info, I might give it try even people doesn't seem to like it cheers and keep up your work...

Thanks Jed, didn't quite work out how I wanted it to but the idea was there I guess. Seen that you've been putting up a lot of stuff lately too, very cool. Alot of Amy's Conquest on there - I haven't done anything for them in a long while, are they still going?
