Okay, so don’t faint... - I actually drew a dude for once! 😂

I had fun with this one.

This is Thunder Lord from title Impact Silver.

So a lot of mythology involved with this one. His character is from Italy and with a name like Thunder Lord it kind gives away his strengths. His being Italian, I wanted to use a lot of Roman influences. So in Norse mythology, the god of thunder is Thor, In Greek; Zeus controls the lightning bolts and in Roman, Jupiter was the equivalent of Zeus. So I wanted to play a lot on this kinda aspect.

Let’s start with his original design. I haven’t in all honesty strayed too far from his original design. The biggest thing that I’ve changed is the motif on his chest. The original has a giant lightning bolt down the centre, which kinda made me think of Shazam. Whilst no one’s has patented the lightning bolt and it’s a perfectly suitable design strategy for a thunder lord, Thunder Lord himself is a character in his own right and I wanted to try and bring him away, perhaps, from the familiarity of Shazam, Black Adam etc. So instead I used the Roman symbol for Jupiter. I’m sure someone’s going to tell me that this symbol is already in use but I’m hoping that if that’s so, it’s not a too well recognised superhero!🤞🏻😄 If so, I’ll just do a version with the lightning bolt instead! 😂

There are a few more nods to mythology here too. Thunder Lord carries the Mace of Jupiter so that was already in place. However, Jupiter the planet is famous for its red eye, so I’ve given Thunder Lord a red iris on his right eye. I chose his right eye as a bit of a nod to Odin (Norse mythology) as he didn’t have a right eye yet he was still able to command lightning etc. I’ve also put an upside down trident on his tunic. Pluto was the Roman version of Hades, god of the underworld, and is often depicted with a trident. I though that this would act as a reminder to the forces of evil that Jupiter holds dominion over the underworld, another good over evil metaphor.
