Oh, I’ve wanted to do this for a long time! I wanted to create some paintings to capture my memories of how I felt about the story of Phantom of the Opera back when I was a young child. I had Images in my head of a man passionately playing his music, with a frightened young lady reaching out to unmask him. I wanted to capture that picture I had in my head.You know, for some reason when I was little kid I had it in my mind that Christine gave Erik the kiss right after the unmasking
No, Anna, that's not quite how it happened I can't tell you how shocked I was years later when I saw the 2004 movie and Gerik went bonkers when I was totaly expecting a tender moment 
Anyhoo. Not totally done, there are quite a lot of things I want to fix and touch up in this. Another day though

No-one ever wonders who built or tuned the organ ... and who is blowing it (unless, of course, the phantom had an early form of electric blowing!)

Actually, I would not be suprised if those who were not familiar with the story beforehand almost jumped out of their seats when he reacted that way when they saw that version (especially since Christine didn't have a very strong reaction after unmasking him).

I had a lot of weird expectations for Phantom when I was a child as well. I first heard it when I was 5, I didn't get to see it on Broadway until I was 9.

Also, Erik went a bit insane after that incident in the book- though he pretty much traumatized Christine in the process (and the actress in the movie was scared by the freakout in reality.)

When I first learned of PotO as a child (I didn't know enough about it, just images related to the musical and book) I asked an adult to explain the story......and I could have sworn she said that they ended up loving each other.
....which I wish was how the story could have turned out now (sometimes)
