Watching you for so long like I have(well, on my other account anyhow), I'm continually impressed by how well your anatomy has been improving in these creatures your make. You've really worked weaver body shape into something both recognizable and wonderfully possible! Every time I see a new Weaver base it's an improved one, and that's very rewarding in and of itself XD
I almost thought you were doing Stone weaver customs here and just about spit taked XD but nope, normal kind XD I can return to being alive.

no one's asking you to lmao ?? literally no one is telling you specifically to spend your money on designs, or anything specifically, like
if people have income they're welcome to spend it on literally whatever they please and people like you asking "why would ppl spend so much on this stuff" does nothing but serve to make people feel bad, please reconsider in the future

we get mad because we have a reason to get mad, you say you're "just saying you don't understand" but voicing your opinion in the way that you did is inherently hurtful and offensive and serves no purpose than to get people riled up
and then when they do you act like what you said wasn't a deal at all
it's easier to just admit you said something potentially crappy and apologize and learn for next time haha

This whole thread (not just your comment) seems like a bit of an overreaction to their comment. They were just surprised people pay this much for adoptables and stating their opinion. Its a hell of a lot of money to pay for adoptables and I know I personally wouldnt spend that much for a design even If I could afford it.
π: 0 β©: 1
Gravity-Mortician In reply to Tayaspirits [2015-03-30 17:29:47 +0000 UTC]
Agreeing with you. I was a bit surprised to click on this and see such a massive outbreak of long paragraphs and spiked tempers when the original commenter wasn't actually offensive. Jumping down people's throats doesn't help the whole adoptable community image much; we're all going to spend our money and make our adoptables anyway so the hackles need be lowered XD
*late to the party, derp, goes to put my actual comment where Banan will actually see it XD*

sorry to butt in but maybe I can help a little
It just seems really hurtful to comment negatively on something that someone creates
The thing is, while you might not be willing to pay that, someone out there is obviously willing to pay
Just try and remember that there is a human on the other side of the screen with feelings as real as yours c:

ok i know and so far your the nicest person ive met but honestly what i said wasnt hurtful (in my opinion) i was just confused as to why someone would wanna spend 1,500 dollars on something
π: 0 β©: 1
loafking In reply to Claire-Doodles [2015-03-30 02:17:02 +0000 UTC]
Well personally, I wouldn't pay that
But for someone, this is a big part of their life
for the artist, this is how they pay their bills
It's all a matter of personal preference c:
But for someone like you or I who don't have the money to spend on it, it seems rude and a little insulting to the artist who needs this money to live and the buyer who has made this choice to buy it

You've already had people explain it to you and yet you keep pushing it and your tone is suggesting that the people who buy adopts are stupid and its hurtful to those people and the artist themselves.Β
I could ask why people buy themselves like 20 cars when all you need is like one or two but then again its not any of my business how and why people spend money on the things they do especially if they have the means and aren't hurting anyone. If that person likes cars and has the money to buy them then let them buy 100 of them I don't care.Β
Same thing goes for adopts, people love them, they're beautiful and see them worthy as something to spend money on. People collect them, draw them, have them drawn by others, rp with them, etc etc. It's a fandom and a business just like anything else and its how people make a living, an honest living.Β
So that right there is your explanation so drop it.Β

albinosharky In reply to Claire-Doodles [2015-03-30 17:19:23 +0000 UTC]
"Rich people" are not the only people spending money on adoptables, because believe it or not people can save up money and spend it on whatever they like.
You continue to be condescending and presumtuous despite multiple people explaining this clearly and without attitude. If it bothers you that people spend their money on virtual things, simply close the tab and move on. Nobody is obligated to spend money on adoptables, but that doesn't mean it's weird or wrong for those who do.

If you don't mean to be offensive then maybe just don't make comments that are going to instigate arguments? People spend what they think something is worth so obviously the people who are willing to pay for it have a different opinion from you. Your commentsΒ are offensive, to both the seller and the buyers, whether you say no offense or not.

Please understand that such comments as yours are common...and very very tiring. Thats why people get overly defensive - because we are tired of repeating ourselves over and over on every of the big auctions.Β
Buying an adoptable from Bananamantis (who has a huge fanbase and high status within the adoptable society) is very similar to buy a pair of Gucci sunglasses instead of just buying a cheap pair from wallmart. The product can be used for different things and is a sign of status/identity. An adoptable gives access to a whole world of roleplaying (through both art and text) within a certain story - which wouldnt be available without a character that fits into that setting.Β
And its not about "rich people". Thats downright condescending to just write us all off as "spoiled rick kids". Some slave away on a normal job and save up for a whole year to buy these - because adoptables hold so much value for many of us.Β
