A, I assume, was simply a typo, as you said "he" in relation to the boss in the first comment, when the boss is female.
Stacy and Kendra (formerly Kenneth) have been friends their whole lives, she would believe him without question if he were to tell her the sky was orange (and, in a lot of cases, would likely change the sky orange to accommodate his words). With Samantha, it was just Stacy feeling sorry for Samantha, so she just believed her. Simple mistake there.
