Completed Deuce! I'm a super lousy photographer so you can't see that all of his scales have a golden shine, including his staff and the gold snake around his arm. I failed!

Lots n' lots of sculpting (and burning myself) went into this, so I'm actually pretty happy with him. I'm also thinking of doing a contest to see who comes up with the best background for him, since he now looks all warrior-ish and less douchie

Lagoona Blue repaint - [link]

Ever since Monster High dolls came out, I knew the company would hit the jackpot. Monsters, vamps, zombies, they're at the height of popularity and the market was bogged down with "fashion" dolls that were all starting to blend together.

Now, I wonder if Monster High doesn't have more of an adult following than children. Either way, I knew if I ever found any of these dolls on discount that I'd have to pick them up to try my hand at a repaint for the first time. I had very, very little confidence that I could do well, but so far I'm happy with my progress.

Deuce looked like a giant douche to me. (Haha, Douchie Deuce...) so my challenge was to make him less of a prat, and turn him into something decent. I think he's coming along well. (in the background you can see the repainted Lagoona Blue. Her photo will be coming soon)

Funny story though. I was with my mum while buying this (we now live in the same town and often shop together), and as usual when we aren't buying much we share a cart. I disappeared with the cart, and when I came back the doll was in it. My mum dropped her couple of items in, saw the doll, and didn't even look twice.

Me: I love that my mother doesn't question why her nearly 30 year old daughter has a doll in the cart.

Mom: *sigh* If I start questioning all the weird stuff you do now... where would I stop?
