Zuko and Katara had been together for about three months now. It was the start of the new semester. They were as happy together now as they had been when they spent a couple hours at Katara's house. Mai still didn't seem to understand that Zuko had a girlfriend that wasn't her. She would always try and get him to come over to her house, or try to surprise him when she came over to their house, to hang out with Azula.

Every time Mai tried to hang out with Zuko, he would text Katara. "She's doing it again." He said.
"I know…but you would never leave me right?" she text back.
"Never, ever."

Katara got on the bus one school morning, and Zuko would smile at her and she would sit next to him.
"How's it going?" she said on a particularly frosty morning in January.
"Okay, I don't like the winter…too cold."
"I love winter time…you get to wear scarves!" She said all excited
"..But you wear scarves all the time…" he said looking at her
"So…" she said rolling her eyes at him, She looked up after putting her book bag down by her feet, she enter wined her fingers with Zuko's. She noticed that Azula was sitting with Ty Lee and not Mai.

"When did Mai stop riding the bus?" she asked Zuko
"About three months ago." He said
"Really? I think I would remember that…"
"…yeah…sure…" he said

They went on chatting about things, until they got to school. They parted ways and Katara went to her locker. Switched out her books from last night's homework and picked up her first classes binder and other materials. Katara looked down the hall at the clock and met the glare of one Mai Heise. Katara shut her locker and went on to class, when she was far enough away she opened her phone and quickly sent a text to Zuko.

"She was staring me down…it was kind of creepy." She said
"Yeah she can get that way sometimes." He said to her

Katara made it to her class; she was sitting at her desk with her materials out and waiting for the bell to ring. She kept thinking about Mai and that crazy way she was staring at her. The bell rang and woke her from the thought and class started.

When school let out, Zuko usually went over to Katara's house to study, which meant sitting in the living room and every time Sokka left they would kiss as much as they could before he could come back. Katara would lie on her stomach on the floor and look over her notes, when she was flustered Zuko would always come and lie next to her and help her figure out the problem, then go back to his homework.

Katara was working on her homework when she was just about to give up on understanding physics when she noticed Zuko wearing a nice blue printed t-shirt.

"You're wearing blue." She said with a smile
"Yeah…it's your favorite color." He said
"I just never seen you in blue before." She said
"I wear blue all the time…" he said
"…no you don't its mostly red you wear." She said
"…okay. When did you tell me your favorite color?" he asked
"The other day about two months ago." She responded
"The next day I wear a blue shirt." He said
"…No you didn't…" she said, "Oh wait…Yes you did! How come I never noticed?"
"Because you're not observant" he said
"…yes I am." She said quietly
"If you were observant…you would have noticed that I walked passed your locker three different times a day last semester, and that I always smiled at you…and how you would always wear blue…" he said looking into her eyes.
"What?" she said
"I've been crushing on you since I saw you the first day of the term." He said, "You didn't know I existed until that night at the dance."
"…you can't count that against me I am very focused at school…I need to get done what needs to be done, after I can observe anything I want." She said standing up to sit next to him, "Actually I was at the homecoming football game so I saw you with Mai." She said "…and that older guy…I don't think it was your dad…" she said
"That's my uncle…he thought it was cute that Mai and I were voted as Homecoming prince and princess." He said
"Does he know how much you don't like her?" she asked she put her head on his shoulder and he put his arm around her and she smuggled up to him.
"…yeah he usually hears most of it, mostly because Azula is tired of hearing how much her friend likes her brother." He said
"That's funny." She said

"Also Mai has been staring you in the hall since we started going out, you just saw her this time." Zuko said
"…eh she blends in to the background…she never wears any color." She said
