Not bad, for a dreadnought.

Wow, this is incredible. The sheer scale of it is intense. I looked at the making of on the links you posted and it just shows how much work you put into it. I aspire to be as good as you one day!

Sounds great! I cant wait to see them.
I bet they are a ton of work... But if the Kongo was took that much effort, imagine building the IJN Yamato! That ship is absolutely enormous!

Actually, the Yamato is much easier. Mainly because of how much newer it was than the Kongo. A lot more structures and mechanisms were streamlined/ built in on the Yamato class, while the much older Kongo had stuff exposed. Weird, but it makes sense. I've been working on a 1/250 Musashi (Yamato's sister) that I'll finish someday. Here's a pic of my girl with the hull to show you how big it is. lol [link] Also, for the Space Battleship Yamato in 1/350, here she is with the huge box that thing came in. [link] Wacky!

Oh goodness. That is a HUGE kit. But hey, if its an easier build, great! It does make sense that a newer ship/model would be more streamlined, especially if the designer was kind of like me and likes everything as simplified as possible. I hate having too much out at one time, it drives me nuts! I imagine it would only be amplified when designing the biggest ship in the world. haha
When you finish the Musashi, be sure to post pictures. I cant wait to see it!

The other reason was that technology had progressed during the 30 or so years between designing the two so it we can see a progression of making things smaller and more efficient. Also, there was the issue of the pressure from firing the guns. Things had to be kept fairly clean or the blast would blow stuff off the deck. lol
Here's a link to the build article. The earlier pics need to be relinked, but this page is okay... You can see how much work went into the hull... [link]
