Yes, another Tudor portrait 🤡 that makes two in a row. (Should Edward be next?) This one's Mary I, and I seriously cannot find much information about pretty much anything about it - not even the artist's name, but that's typical of portraits from this era (SIGN YOUR ART, PEOPLE). I do know that this was painted around the 1830s though - which was a long time after she died in 1558, and it depicts her in her younger years when she was perhaps in her 20s or so. But - here's the kicker - it's quite possible that it is a portrait from her reign or even a little after her reign in the 17th century. I found a source claiming that the original portrait had been painted over in the 19th century. Sucks ass, eh? Lots of people don't really like her, but honestly, she's fascinating in both good ways and bad. All Mary wanted was to be loved, she was constantly rejected - first by her father, her stepmother, her country, even her fucking husband... The part of Mary that really resonates with me, though, is her trouble with periods and fertility. Being a mom is my number one goal in life and I simply can't help but pity Mary. Sure, she killed a shit ton of people for a really shitty reason, but so did Elizabeth and we don't hear much from her, do we? Poor Mary. Nothing like this would've happened if Henry had just kept his cod in his pants Anyway, sorry the quality is... questionable for this one. The scanner I use was being a little bitch so this is the best I could do.
