I ones read a serious argument somewhere that when humankind went from hunting and gathering to agriculture, there came a need to control and keep track of everything that had anything to do with human reproduction, like woman nipples. In a small hunter/gather tribe it wasn't that important to know who the father was to a child cuz all property was owned collectively in the group. In a agriculture society you need to know who your father is to know what property you are entitled to when that one passes away.
With this new need came a new culture with large restrictions around sexuality and reproduction and anything associated with it, and also cultural restriction around women's freedom to choose the person they should have sex with, like the institution of marriage and stuff like that.
I'm a history teacher so I couldn't help myself. Sorry!

First, I appreciate your reply. I was not trying to be funny there; rather, I was curious how we are as a human race and a society in general.
That said, I'm still trying to make the connection between your two paragraphs. For the second one, "With this new need came a new culture with large restrictions around sexuality and reproduction and anything associated with it, and also cultural restriction around women's freedom to choose the person they should have sex with, like the institution of marriage and stuff like that."
There seems to be a missing link in the transition period of history. I can understand the concept of treating offspring and wives as property in ancient history, but am still puzzled since when somebody decided that:
- No, Johnny, you must not look at, draw, touch, dream of, think of, etc... female nipples, because it is a sin!
- No, Jane, you must not show your nipples!
Maybe it is just a silly thought, but I certainly will wonder for a long time, just in the sense of how we get to be who we are nowadays as a whole.
Any thoughts from your history teaching expertise are much appreciated!

Its a sin cuz it leads to thoughts about sex, and unrestricted sex can lead to kids with unknown fathers, and that can lead to property of a dead guy falling in the hands of someone unrelated to him after he's gone. All of this gave a need to set up a lot of new moral rules concerning how to dress, who you can have sex with (your husband) and so on. Most of the male body had no such rules connected to it cuz most parts of the male body couldn't be connected to reproduction in the same obvious way. If you look at the concept of sex as a sin, its only sinful to have sex with partners other than your spouse. In some cases it's even a sin not to have sex with your spouse, and a legitimate reason for devours.
As times passed everything connected to reproduction, like women's nipples, breasts, wide hips and so on, became surrounded with a lot of taboos and restrictions and generally charged and exiting. Before the agricultural revolution no one took notice of a woman's breast any more than a man's breast, it was just a mundane part of the body. If you look at a lot of cultures that still live by hunting and gathering, in some remote parts of the world, the women can still walk around bare breasted like it is no ones business.
I don't know if I can explain my thoughts any better in English. Its not my first language.

I agree with complicated, but evil, I don't know. It all depends on how we define evil. Humanity as a whole is having it better and better for every year, with less number of people living in areas of war and less percentage of people starving. Globally the life expectancy is increasing and the rate of baby mortality is decreasing. It all might be an effect of a large percentage of humanity selling their souls to to Natas, therefore a more evil world, but I doubt it.

Looking on the bright side, I agree with you. But, I was also told that there was time Halloween trick or treating was much simpler, or kids could walk to school by themselves, or schools did not need metal detectors, or etc. etc., you know?

It still is like that here in Sweden, were I live. I may be all wrong but to be frank I think media is mind f-ing you Americans into hating and fearing your neighbours.
I see the same phenomenon in Sweden to some extent. People have never had is as safe as they have it nowadays. The actual risk of being victimised is as low as it has ever been, but the fear of being raped, assaulted, robbed, murdered and so on is just getting bigger and bigger for every day.
Who is to blame for all of this? Follow the stream of money to find out.... Scared people buy guns, insurances, hire private security companies, install alarms, grant money to more prisons, stop questioning political leadership, goes to church and pray a lot, send their kids to private schools and not public ones and so on and so on...

A lot of them were just scared sh*tless and base their election choice on that. How sad!
I usually joke that this is how superstition started in the first place. When people are afraid of something, they tend to worship the unknowns. Ignorance and laziness are roots of evil. People should be open-minded, learn a sh*t or two (hahaha... I'm cursing too much here) about what is actually going on, then make the best decision they could make based on logical thinking. Society and mankind will thank them for that.

That's just the 'think positive' American in you speaking. The Swedish motto is more like 'this will never work...' I'm more inclined to think that soon my insignificant life will end with a tiny fizz and Not a big bang. Afterwards shit is going to continue just as if I've never existed in the first place.

That's good news if you are still conscious enough to fear! In some sense, sh*t is not different than nipples, which never go away, no matter what. Hehe...

DA doesn't have a security protocol for that situation. It will effectively shut down this whole place. Total system failure!

So Raffaello and Michelangelo works should be tagged "mature" because they portray often integral nudity?
Or the visit to museums of history of art should be denied to "kids"?
It's not nudity that creates interpersonal problems in young people...
Anyway this is just my thinking, we must apply the rules of the admins, since they are the judges in here and we must respect the "house rules".

Most definitely. In Sweden where I live those two teeny tiny little nipples wouldn't count as adult. Therefore it didn't cross my mind to tag it.

It's a shame that nudity is such a taboo thing over here. I don't see any huge problems with nudity that isn't portrayed in a provocative manner.

Dude! we are all nude under our clothes. I have far more problems with violence as entertainment, at least when it is directed to kids.
