Re-post from Tumblr (still not sure why I have it...), someone asked what would happen if Leo told Mikey that Santa wasn't real or something like that. Β So yeah, the age difference between them is like... hardly any, and I'm against Nick's dumbification of Mikey! (Still can't get over the commercial that compared him to Patrick!) SO YEAH, TAKE THIS... or something like that.
Also, practicing 2k12 turtles.

Agreed. I am totally addicted to this version of TMNT, it's got me fangurling hard recently but I am so sad they made my (every incarnation favourite) seem dumber than Rocksteady and bebop Y_Y Gotta say though, meeting Greg Cipes last year, just before Parasitica aired helped somewhat XD.Β

I don't mind that Mikey is the silly one in the show but making him stupid is another thing. I love the 2012 show one of the best incarnations in years but I'm still waiting for Mikey to mature.

Mikey is not stupid. He is hyper and cute and has an optimism that borders on the innocence of a child but that doesn't make him stupid and I greatly dislike it when people treat him that way. I really like this picture. I can't really hear Mikey's dry response to Leo.

I have made so many posts about Nick's attempt at explaining away Mikey's immaturity as "giving him room to grow." It's one of the laziest excuses for bad writing. They had an idea, it didn't go over well, instead of fixing it they stuck a dumb reason to it and hoped for the best. I love the way you put it here.

This! They obviously use him for cheap humor, it's just too bad it sometimes puts him in a bad light! Don't get me wrong, I think they do a lot of good things with Mikey in the show too, I just wish the dumb-moments were are bit farther between and...Β

I think the biggest problem with the writers is that they don't seem to have a good grasp of the characters or how they want them to act.
Like they KNOW but they keep resorting to cheap tricks and gags for the audience instead of keeping the character's dignity in mind. So we'll have GREAT moments with Leader Leo or Awesome Mikey and the next second they're jokes.Β
But then again the show IS made for little boys so it's kind of excusable;;;

God save me from the dolts at Nick who keep trying to turn Mikey into the dumb one! I'm so sick of it I may boycott Nick (or at least write them a very nasty letter).Β It's okay if they want to make Mikey cute and a little ADHD, but making him seem and act stupid makes me totally question the intelligence of the shows writers. I love that expression on Mikey's face - he looks like he's completely fed up with the stereotype too!

Sometimes they even manage to make Mikey seem somewhat laid back to-fun-loving-to-care and cunning even... and then they just kind of ruin it with some asinine incident/comment that will make Mikey look like he has two brain cells! >< I just have to face-palm every time they do that! They're very close to doing him "right" often, but they just love stepping over the limit... I can totally dig a kind of absent-minded "blonde" Mikey, but please let him be more mature then the average 5 year old...

His brothers don't help much on that subject either, they make to many "dumb Mikey" jokes. What really bothers me though is that even when he gets to do something smart in "invasion of the Squirrelanoids" he pretty much just got a pat on the head and told he was a good boy.Β The final nail in my rant is that he practically doesn't have a personal relationship with Splinter because he doesn't go to him for advice, and let's face it, he really could have used a talk about strangers on the internet before the "Bradford incident". Sorry for ranting.

Totally agree with you gals- you'reΒ preaching to the choir here! I really wish they'd start making Mikey more intelligent like SHOULD be, instead of this "he's ADHD and funnyΒ so he acts like an idiot" schtick. It's really annoying. I want MOVIE Mikey back! (I really think he's the best version of all, because he was perfectly balanced in both humor and brains.)

Movie Mikey as an awesome Mikey! The same goes for 2k3 Mikey for me. There he was a jokster and easily distracted, but not dumb. He often consciously made him self sound silly just for laughs, just cause he enjoyed lightening the mood.Β
