True, but you'd think we could at least trust them to get his name right. I mean, are they saying their Van Helsing isn't even the same guy as the one in Dracula? Frankly, that wouldn't surprise me, considering how different the two are, but there aren't exactly a lot of vampire hunters named Van Helsing. Honestly, I think they should've given this character a different name. The movie wouldn't have been any different, and without such inconsistencies with the actual story, no one would've been annoyed by it.

Well, in the movie, they gave him a different name to reference the Angel Gabriel from the bible, and Dracula even calls him "The Left Hand of God."

I'm aware of this, but even so, I would have preferred that they honored Bram Stoker's vision and used the real name.
