Description A flock was feeding close to the road on this October evening. I parked my car with the window down. engine off and it didn't seem to bother them. The feathers are gorgeous in the sun.

What a gorgeous pic! I got out of the car yesterday to take a turkey pic and it flew up into a tree hidden by the leaves.

Thanks for collecting this! Next time you might think about staying in the car to take a picture. That's how I captured this one, they didn't care at all.

It's the colors of the flowers too. It is as if you got to pick the colors yourself. Exterior decorating.

Nature isn't always so obliging, but it's nice when it happns that way.

I hadn't either, until I saw them in the sun. They are gorgeous, metallic, irridescent. I'm not surprised that the native Indians favored them. I was very happy to capture a suggestion of it.

They were all hunted out in this area until a few years ago they were re-introduced. I've since had the pleasure of seeing a couple of flocks from a distance & once at the cottage I chased one with my camera. Dratted thing was too darn fast for me!

They were reintroduced here about 10 or so years ago, and are doing well. There is one flock nearby and I think several more not too far away. They are very wary and as you say, are suprisingly quick.
