Hey OP I think this is awesome - the idea that the "bone structure" is somehow off is pretty unfounded. Elves were always intended to be a sort of glorified human from their inception in fantasy. Typically, anyways.
It's pretty anywho. You're awesome. : >

Of course it's an elf, it has long ears.
Oh George. XD

This is really pretty and I love the hair. However, I have a reeeeeal problem with her face looking almost human. It might be difficult for some to see, but humans and elves don't share bone structure.

Quite the opposite, I think, even with WoW's graphics, you can clearly see the sort of long faces, as well as larger and somewhat tilted eyes. Kinda gives them an arrogant look though. xD

So if we go by WoW logic, we have hands the size of looney toons. I think it's up to the artist anyway how they portray facial structure. Nothing is canon. I mean check Blizzard Official art of Blood Elves and you can see they are portrayed differently each time.

I'm gonna have to call you wrong on that one.
They all have one thing in common: longer faces and typical elven eyes. Large and tilted like I mentioned earlier. xD
Of course nothing is canon, but certain things have certain qualities to them that, overlooking, will make it look like something different.

Typical elven eyes is a given, this image has typical elven eyes. (They're green!)

I'm not finding any of these images to have 'longer faces' to the point where they look stretched out of proportion, nor am I seeing any other artists who typically depict them doing such except you. In fact, I don't think these official pieces of Blizzard art even look nearly as thin faced as this: vixennymph.deviantart.com/art/… . I'd actually go as far to say that looks less like a Blood Elf because 1. It has yellow eyes. 2. The face is so slender that it could be regarded as an artistic error in proportions. Artists are free to make their own interpretation of the facial structure(Just like you do.) But don't enforce your rules of elven anatomy on others - "I have a reeeeeal problem with her face looking almost human. It might be difficult for some to see, but humans and elves don't share bone structure." So I'm going to leave it at the fact that -nothing is canon-.

I think the faces are indeed very slender looking.
And regarding the eyes on my blood elf, it's fire there. Not yellow eyes. There's some green hidden underneath! Fire mage yo. BOOM!

Wow. It's like talking to a brick wall.
Ok cool there's fire coming from her eyes. Doesn't happen ingame therefore as an artist you cannot portray such. Lol?
Try and think about this from a logical perspective instead of being obstinate and arrogant. You're preaching that an elf needs to have a slender face and tilted eyes and you're basing this from ingame models. Yet you're already portraying things that the game doesnt show happening. This is a pure example of hypocricy.
Nobody said you can't portray an elf how you want, but don't preach 'the right way' when it comes to art. You simply look like an idiot because everything is up to artistic interpretation. If Barn-swallow wants to paint an elf with those characteristics then let her. Most people on deviantart including myself are giving elves these proportions.
Finally I would like to draw your attention to the fact that you are looking at the artwork from a low perspective, this gives the illusion that her chin is more broader purely because of the angle you're viewing it.
Now if you're going to retort with 'yo' and freaking 'boom' one more time like a child, I will deem you simply not mature enough to have this debate with me. I don't want to feel like you're taking the piss out of me while I am explaining something to you.

TL;DR she's a bully in denial

1. Not mature enough to have this debate with you? You're the one getting aggressive while I am simply not at that stage. You need to chill out and realise that I'm not taking this as seriously as you are. I never started this to begin with, you did. I'm just not catching on to your attitude and prefer to keep this as casual as possible because, once again, I didn't start this. I gave one simple constructive advice, and I get fire up my arse. Excuse me for not sinking to your level in this discussion.
2. There is a cinematic from either Warcraft 1 or 2 displaying an Arcane Mage have his eyes turn white when he is channeling his arcane magic. Therefore it is just as possible for fire and frost to have the same thing happen. It's magic, and magic is wild. So yeah, it can happen.
3. I never said her art was bad so once again I don't know why you're getting so upset. However though, elves do have certain facial and bodily features and that is just the way it is. Why argue against facts? The Blizzard art that you were so desperate to use to prove me wrong ended up proving yourself wrong instead, and yet you're arguing. Why can't you just leave it? Jesus christ, woman. Grow up.

It feels more like nitpicking for me. Especially from someone, who is not taking care about such things in their own works. But of course it's easier to point out mistakes to somebody while doing nothing. Or maybe I'm just not as pr0 as you. Good luck anyway. :*

It's not my fault if you take my criticism the wrong way. It is a common mistake I see, where people draw alien races with human-like faces. I was just giving you that advice.
And I don't know what you are talking about when you say, "Especially from someone, who is not taking care about such things in their own works." when I don't make this mistake myself. Yes, I need to improve in other areas and I would welcome any advice for that stuff but I am pretty sure I've not messed up in the area you claim. Right now you're just trying to do the "NO U" thing on me.
And LIKE I ALSO SAID IN MY COMMENT, it looks nice. I don't know why you got so offended when I complimented you to begin.

Slow down, girl. If I would comment your troll picture and say "it looks nice, i like the colours, but it doesn't look like a troll at all", it would be the same situation - nitpicking and my opinion over yours. You're doing your own stuff, you like it and it's cool. Just let other people do the same.

Dude, I gave you constructive criticism. I didn't just go off and said, "It doesn't look like an elf!" I explained why. That is the difference between nitpicking and criticism.

It's amazing, if you really think that telling someone they did something not the way you like, is criticism.
