The Angel was always marching behind our trenches, its feet would make the earth tremble with every step and their immense shadow towered over us day and night. I think that was their way of keeping morale up by reminding us that the Divine was on our side through its presence. It helped out a lot. The suffocating air was easier to breathe in, a sliver of hope was starting to spread throughout the ranks, and we slept a little easier during the campaign's worst days.
