Inspired by The latest few poem from the renga treeBrendaCarriere and I started.

I have been having a blast. Brenda is thoughtful, brilliant and just an overall delight to cross pens with. I feel like Inigo Montoya dueling with the mysterious "man in black." I am starting to suspect she may not be left handed after all. I hope I have studied my Agrippa.

Yes. This is a choka poem. What is a choka poem you ask? At its most basic, it is another Japanese poetry form that literally translates as "long poem." There are some that are in excess of 140 lines. It consists of an indeterminate number of alternating 5 and 7 syllable lines and ends in an extra 7 syllable line. Traditionally it is actually sung (not ina western sense) in a high pitched voice. So it seemed like a perfect form to use for a poem about mysterious, sorrowful singing.
