The Spire broods atop the cliffs
Overlooking the tumultuous sea
An omen clad in ghostly alabaster
A leprous digit thrust accusingly
At the insentient heavens above
An echo of the antiquarian spite
Upon which it had been founded
Older than the histories of man
Cursed since time immemorial
It stands forsaken and shunned
As a silent, perpetual witness
To the splendor of an elder race
Of whose imposing aspirations
It now remains the sole testator
And thither no man ventures
Save for the maddest of fools
Lusting after enlightenment
And learning to their horror
That The Spire suffers no light
It is the edifice of ancient hate
And terrible transfigurations
Imbuing primordial malice
Into desecrated souls
Like theirs
