Description here's a quick collection of Chibi versions of the mages of the first seven chapters of Bad Blood Runs Black. from left to right: Stengal the Weasel (the mustache is about the only thing I like about this one), his sister Sybille in her golden Master's outfit from chapter 2 rev 1, his younger brother Erick looking vacantly and holding his doodles (again from chapter 2 rev 1), and the current War Mage Academy Master von Hemstedt in his golden Master's outfit with purple trim (that's as close as I could get to a facial expression like this ). this is just for fun, not meant to be a visual reference!

thanks, it's such a handy tool! these are characters from my story, Bad Blood Runs Black. some day, if I ever get a scanner or a drawing tablet, I'd like to make cartoons of my Pana the Warpriestess and her friends...

I like the girl in the red. she looks like a character I would make. with the green eyes, the red hair in the pony tail, and only wearing one color.

ah, Sybille...a precocious over-achiever as a young lady, she became a perfect villain later in her life. this Chibi represents her as she appeared 23 years ago, when she had just graduated from the War Mage Academy and became an instructor there. total sociopath, I tell you...especially by the later chapters

you sure do like making a lot of blonde characters.

it only seems that way because there are three of Pana (she's the only one who has costume changes during part one). I count five characters out of thirteen (Pana, her dad, her mom, her sister, and her boss), three of whom have graying blonde hair and four are blood relatives. three have white hair (the Drow, the elderly schoolmaster and the butler), three brown (Wanda, Erick, and Haergrim), and one each salt-and-pepper (Stengal) and red (Sybille). now just because the only black haired and redhead characters are both villains doesn't imply anything, they were randomly assigned (and if I made them both blonde, then there would be seven blondes out of thirteen, which would have been unbalanced)

you should do what I do and make a list of showing how many characters have what color hair. like.... I have 4 blonde characters, 1 black haired character. and I also do that for eye color.  the most of my characters have blue hair, and the least is black hair or no hair.

I also do you same for eyes, the most characters I have have green eyes, and the least is red, orange and pink.

wellp, that's another worksheet to put in my Excel and I also have to keep in mind that this takes place in a Germanic-inspired country, so outside of the obvious Chawinda the Drow and Haergrim the Elf, most humans in part one would be of Germanic Caucasoid stock (note to self: must increase the number of redheads...). now, in part two, that country is based on a Slavic/Russian culture, so yes there will be some blondes, some brunettes (possibly of mixed Asiatic racial stock), and oh they have Gnomes up there with predominantly red hair and blue eyes (I'll have to check my Reference Guide). thanks for the tip!

I think it's cool when a place is based off a real place. but I think it's cooler is a place is based off of nothing. and it's just really creative. but I know that's really hard.

I had created a parallel realm called Krūn, where I hypothesized the Charrs came from...an extradimensional plane, where these creatures were plentiful and came in many different sizes, in cities that had elevated roads and railroads (trains towed by huge Charr-like creatures). since the realm my story is set in was a shared project (my best friend in high school had the southern half of the continent, the map looked nothing like the one I have in my Gallery), I ran into resistance when I suggested a portal between that world and Krūn to allow unlimited importing of various sizes of Charrs. in retrospect, he may have been right (what would Blackstone be exporting in trade for the Charrs, and how would that impact resources in the shared world?). if I had my way, I would have had living trains, living airliners, living computers (he did allow a living camera, a frog-like creature with one eye bigger than the other which was trained to draw what it stared at quickly and accurately, usually a small portrait for ID cards and such)...I was such a dork back then (and still am...hee!)

it's okay. we're all dorks here on dA. I just wish I could make a drawing of what Enaria looks like. a mix of the Rayman 2 world and the Sonic world. the energy of Sonic's world and the mystery of Rayman's. they also have different areas. like a fancy place where you know Dmitri and Ferdinand live. so many places, like an icy place. I just wish I could draw them...

oh man, I'm nowhere near being able to draw even a sketch of any world, just a map but speaking of Rayman, I just compared Rayman 2 backgrounds to Rayman Legends, and wow they did some work there...R2 looks like it's all indoors, even if it isn't, whereas RL looks dynamic, with decent scenery (gawjus, just gawjus)

Square-Watermelon In reply to BasileusIoannis [2013-10-13 14:51:48 +0000 UTC]

even if RO and RL has food backgrounds, it will never make up for their drugged looking character designs, almost naked and inappropriate Nymphs, and freaky monsters. call me a G1er, but I love Rayman 1, 2 and 3.

BasileusIoannis In reply to Square-Watermelon [2013-10-15 14:16:37 +0000 UTC]

oh, what? drugged looking characters and half-nekkid Nymphs? I did not know that...geez, what purpose does that serve? maybe to attract an older audience? sheesh, way to earn a "mature audiences" rating...but I shouldn't talk, with my writings and all still...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Square-Watermelon In reply to BasileusIoannis [2013-10-15 15:21:02 +0000 UTC]

one thing I avoid is all of RO. drugged things really scare me. gets me thinking if it WAS on drugs..... well, if you have writing like that you should give a warning. and the Nymph thing is very insulting  to us women, it's like you only keep us around for a hot thing. and if they are just a character, you make them to out of character and show a lot of their body and be flirty, even if it's not in her personality.

anyway. I'm sure to be respectful to man and women. that's why I made Van, so there would be a good guy selection so guys won't feel left out.

no problem, there are no drugged things or Nymphs in my story. it's good that you have a wide selection of male characters in Megablast

BBRB is the story I'm writing  the first seven chapters (part one) have been revised multiple times, and as someone mentioned, it's practically a story by themselves. with the reference guide and these Chibis, it's pretty much done. I'm going to work on revising part two, chapters 8-15 next

I've been slacking back in April, for about two weeks, I popped out a chapter a day of the first draft, then it became a chapter every other day...by late May, I was lucky to squeeze out a chapter a week. in my defense, I had almost no +Watchers until around the 20th of May, so I had nothing to do but watch everyone else's wonderful galleries and kick myself and say "aw geez, lookit all that...I gotta do SOMEthing" so it was a great motivator to bust a hump and get it out there. now that most of the first draft is out there, I started getting critiques, and when I re-read my older stuff, I realized...they need work...sometimes pretty seriously...that's why the first draft stopped at chapter 29, I had to fix some glaring omissions, some awful grammar/composition violations, and to generally make a half-cooked hamburger more palatable then, I met some writer deviants, and some have SEVERAL BOOKS of multiple chapters each I am a slug...I'll never catch up to them, but at least I hope to finish one book, make it as enjoyable as possible, then I'll probably start a new one

well, his nemesis is an adult race car driver, but that doesn't mean it's not gonna be childish now I remember an awful movie from many years ago, starring David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone, called Death Race 2000. it was a somewhat immature movie where the drivers not only must win the race, they get points for killing pedestrians with their cars (this is where the "points for pedestrians" meme came from)

oh, you don't know the half of it...I won't go into the gory details, but one of the cars has a huge vertical blade mounted on the front of it the movie ends with Carradine's character winning the race (as the evil President intended), but as he goes to accept his trophy, he detaches his prosthetic right hand and throws it at the evil President and it explodes! he says that it was his "hand grenade"...typical adolescent teen humor

I though Stengal looks more like this: www.tierfotograf.com/media/600…
His siblings certainly look way younger than him. A bald head with mustache is perhaps reminding me of men in the age of 40. And Johann von Hemstedt... is probably even old enough to die anytime he falls asleep.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BasileusIoannis In reply to AudeS [2013-10-02 16:09:32 +0000 UTC]

a weasel...

I have to apologize for the anachronism, Stengal is the only one of the four that appears in the current time frame, so is shown as he appears now; his siblings and von Hemstedt only appear in chapter 2 rev 1, in a flashback scene that took place 23 years ago. in the current, Stengal is 55 years old, Sybille is 45, Erick is 43, and von Hemstedt is 60; so in the flashback, Stengal was only 32 years old, Sybille was 22, Erick was 20, and von Hemstedt was 37 (his beard shouldn't be white...er, let's just pretend it's a current day pic  ) I think I'm going to revise this set, break it up between current day and chapter 2 flashback...

D'OH, I forgot to make Lord Heizmall! he is the same age as von Hemstedt, so only 37 when he ascended to the throne in chapter 2 rev 1, a rather young commander of the army! no wonder the other generals felt comfortable yelling at him about the orders they all got...another prodigy, eh?
