Description Well, doing Enjolras was easy. Noooo, at my age, I have to do someone who's pushing fucking 50.

I can do both sides, therefore I *shall* do both sides.

Too handsome for Javert? You decide, I don't want to brag. Too young? Yes. We did our best to age me, but the thing is, with the materials at our disposal, you have to go for OLD old, say 70. You can't really do realistically "middle-aged". If it's supposed to be exaggerated, p.e. Sweeney Todd, okay. Otherwise I end up looking like a 35-something who hasn't eaten for a month and suffers from a rare, exotic diseace/ is a vampire. The slight editing that was done to the photo doesn't help either.
Grey hair can add a lot, and I did use half a bottle of talc powder; however, it ended up mostly not visible and later coming off because of the hat. Anyway, you can't see it here, hat + too far away.
You also can't really see my impressive sideburns. Impressive for me, not Javert, that is. They are quite modest really. Anyway, I'm not going to buy really unconvincing fake ones or spend a month trying to achieve a 'time-travelling sailor' look if Russell Crowe doesn't bother for a Hollywood motion picture, I don't even get paid.

Now, the important question is: Which Javert are you? There are a billion versions.
Answer: The quintessential one. The essence, the image, what comes to mind.
I drew massive inspiration from Geoffrey Rush's magnificent portrayal and I was told that I bring to mind Philip Quast. I also tried to use descriptions and pictures from the book; I did a Google search: what are the results if you type "Javert"? You can get ideas.

But the thing is, there are certain people/characters, especially if they originate from a book, for which we generally have an almost standard “picture” in our minds, how we *expect* them to look, no matter how many adaptations come out. Napoleon. Ancient Greek gods. Captain Nemo.
We have a *concept* in our memory. When you hear the word “tree” something comes to mind, depending on your environment, background etc. This is something more controlled and precise because the character exists as an image in our pop culture, even with some inevitable changes and variations or different interpretations.

And I mean my father saw a photo and was like “Jesus, Javert!”, and he’s seen about two versions in his life if I want to be generous. So I think I’m doing it right.
