Yes, I bought the body and the neck and then added the hardware based upon what sounds I wanted to get! Β Thanks for asking! Β

Nice so how much it cost you everything including the electronics :3 cause I want to get one in warmoth custom shop too including my fave electronic pickups EMG pickups

Honestly, it was a lot more than I thought, the body and the nexk you can guess at from the Warmoth catalogue but I also added a Frnder Precision pickup and a Musicman pickup... Then there was assembly too...Β  I'm guessing somewhere around $800!

I highly recommend it. I find it warmer and earthier than the MK1.

how does the Reverend Rumblefish sound?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

basseca In reply to Raizen22 [2012-01-05 17:45:39 +0000 UTC]

Very similar to a lot of other mid-priced jazz basses - since it uses jazz pickups. However, I find I can get a little more treble out of it. Don't know if it's because of the hollow plastic body or the pickups themselves.

Raizen22 In reply to basseca [2012-01-05 17:51:59 +0000 UTC]

I would figure for a five string you would need heavier pick ups to really grab that low B string. I'm searching for a fret less five string.

what do you even do with all these basses?? well, im probably just jealous since i only got one (and its barely decent).

I actually alternate through all of them to make sure that they get used! Its sad to have them just sitting there...

Aaagghhh!! Awesome collection! I'm so freakin jealous, I can't hide.

What strings are on these AC Guitars and Wal? Are they coloured DR's? I've got them on my squier and they've totally lost the sound in, like, half a week since I put them

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

basseca In reply to Peccator93 [2010-05-04 12:25:38 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, it took a lifetime to get there. And yep, they're coloured DRs... And they still sound fine on mine, maybe you just got a "dead" set... Sorry!

any sentimental value here?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

basseca In reply to 00vapour [2010-05-04 00:58:20 +0000 UTC]

Actually, every single one of them gets played. I don't see a point in having them if you're not going to play them. From a fan geek perspective, I like the Trussart because it used to be owned by Cliff Williams of AC/DC and the Wal MKI because it used to be owned by Howie Epstein. But from an all 'round, this bass means everything to me I'd have to go with the ACG Recurve... It's my go to bass, comfortable as hell and highly versatile sound wise... And it was made by my good friend Alan at AC Guitars in the UK, it's the very first one of that model he ever did, I got to pick the woods, the pickups, the EQ and everything. And its got the very first serial number for that model, #001! I LOVE this bass. If you want to check out his website it's at [link] don't miss the gallery, it's stunning what he can do! The specs and my review of it is at [link]

Thanks for asking!

Awesome collection! Man, I don't know what I'd do with so many basses. Especially basses with awesomeness of this magnitude. xD

For now, I'm content with my black, unidentifiable Hartke bass that came in a beginner's package three years ago. Not like any of these, but I like it. xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

basseca In reply to IloveRotelle [2010-05-04 00:46:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Maybe its one of the benefits of being a little older and having a day job... Every year or two you can buy a new one and you don't have to get rid of one of the ones you've already got. And hey, Hartke's are great value and sound! Go bass!!!

Bwaha, yeah, I can't wait for that xD

It's totally true, they are!
The knobs are screwed up on mine though, came like that in the box, so whenever I go to play it, it sounds different LOL. But that's not always a bad thing, once it sounded sort of like a stingray and it made me very very happy lol

He shames me and my abilities... A definite original!!! But, I don't own any of his work, I'm much more a fan of songs, rather than artists. Which is probably why a couple of my all-time fave would be Paul Westerberg and Tool.

Michaeldavitt In reply to basseca [2009-08-14 17:32:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I used to live in MPLS, Mn I used to see them around town he lives in Edin, MN now.

Did you know he is married to Laurie Lindeen who played in the Zuzu Petals

I put in a stereo system for Prince's original keyboard player Matt Fink or better know as Doctor Fink.

He had a home in Edina with a recording studio in the basement. Paul and others used to drop in and play with him.

Have you ever heard of a band called "the Suburbs"

they were really hot about this same, they signed a record contract and had play on MTV too. They were all set to sign with a bigger label and during a concert attended by the record company and Cokacola
their lead sing speewed coke all over the excutives.

the label never talked to them again.

these guys were great

Yep, I knew that they were married. Never heard anything by her band though although the name always stuck in my head with the "It's a wonderful Life" reference...

I didn't hear of the Suburbs, I'll see if I can find a torrent or file on-line to download.

I've met Paul a couple of times but usually after a gig. Seen him be everything from charming to annoyed. He remains to this day one of my all-time influences.

do you like Steelcaster ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

basseca In reply to funtoomass [2009-03-30 13:21:24 +0000 UTC]

Love it. I don't usually like a combination of 2 jazz pickups because they can't deliver the crunch that I like. But this bass does. The only thing that was a little irritating at the beginning was the very rough grid under the strings because when I really dig into the strings, the repeated slamming on the body hurt. But, I just changed my style a bit and now it doesn't bother me anymore. I'd definitely recommend you trying one out if you're interested.

Thanks! Took 25 years of "building" the collection though. You've got some beautiful basses too. LOVE the Alembic!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Basstard79 In reply to basseca [2008-09-30 13:42:01 +0000 UTC]

The Alembic's not mine... It was borrowed from a friend. After 2 weeks of playing it (mainly on rehearsals) I decided I have to get one. I found a beautiful 2nd hand Essence 5 (one step above the Orion I borrowed and photographed) on the Alembic message board, bought it and... the hopeless UPS fuckers LOST IT. Now I'm waiting for a refund and it may take some time...

How are the Wals? I've never had the opportunity to play one, as there is only one or maybe two here in Poland...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

basseca In reply to Basstard79 [2008-09-30 13:49:08 +0000 UTC]

Good luck in your search and fighting with UPS, they can be bastards and won't do anything for you if you're not the sender.

The Wals are great. A little heavy but the sustain is phenomenal. They also sound very different. The older ProIIe can sound much more organic and warm (while still being able to provide some great crunch) while the MK1 is quieter but more pristine, crisp and clear.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Basstard79 In reply to basseca [2008-09-30 13:51:11 +0000 UTC]

Fortunately, the sender's very helpful...

Once again, congrats on the great collection!

A small update - the Alembic is here, you can find its photos on my dA account

However, I sooo want a Wal now... I guess it's a kind of perpetual GAS a friend told me about: once you fulfill a dream, you immediately start dreaming of sth else All that said, I love my Alembic and a Wal 5-string is the only thing I would consider trading/swapping it for.
