he's a 'dark' version of this guy from another CAPCOM fighter game sengokubasara.wikia.com/wiki/T⦠(the pic on the right should show a bigger version of him with his normal colors). also was a real guy in Japanese feudal history. I guess since Japanese kami are neither good nor evil he may or may not be evil, but I just wanted to make a darker version of this guy for fun.
(I guess the cat's cradle may need some explanation - SB3 Ieyasu's preoccupation is forming alliances (bonds) with other feudal lords rather than fighting them... a little string game kinda signifies that bond thing... only maybe it's more like a devil's pact string game here

Sweet! I'm surprised I haven't heard of it before now.
I like that about Japanese lore;Β their gods possess both light and dark qualities, rather than having one good, while another is bad. I've always loved that kind of balance.

one of those things about CAPCOM... they make games like SB1 and DMC1 to start with and they don't advertise them properly outside of Japan so few know about their existence. >_< but both have so many fans all over. people hear about this one a lot from the cosplayers.... lots of Basara cosplayers out there... I hope they give outside Japan a release of Sengoku Basara 4. I'm gonna be slightly heartbroken if they don't Β
I agree, the lack of good/evil split may be less dramatic but in a way it's more hopeful, I think. if the kami want to help you there's a chance they will, whatever sort they are. also a chance they won't, lol. more like dealing with people than dealing with absolutes ^^

This is such a lovely drawing ^^ Β There's a very mystical feel about this drawing because of the colours you used. I really like the aura around him as well as the stars in the background. Great job with the anatomy and shading as well. This is a personal preference but I'm not a big fan of having a border, I think it cuts off the flow of the work and forces the drawing into a box. However, that's a minor thing and the drawing itself is lovely indeed!

wasn't sure about the border myself, as a rule if a picture is quite dark I use a dark border to 'lighten' what's inside it, doesn't always work, lol
