Duplicated the black layer, put the layer behing black layer, changed to red and then gaussian blurred it, and duplicated that multiple times.

Yea, that´s it... originally it didn´t have the lens flare but it added a bit more spice to it, so I left it.

Nice one, using the black as a silhoette and not even trying to shade it like a regular pic works, makes the flares in the mouth look terrific.
