One quick sidebar, and that's whenever I set out to do a photo based upon the first six seasons of Doctor Who, I very rarely shoot in color. I could, if I wanted to, but I don't, as it just seems more "true" to photograph Hartnell and Troughton in black and white. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to recreating the promotional photos that Hartnell took with Troughton and Pertwee for "The Three Doctors" as it seems to be the easiest way of integrating him into color in lieu of Richard Hurndall or David Bradley.

I don't always celebrate Doctor Who's anniversary every November 23, but whenever I do, I try and whip out something special for it. Well, special in my terms. I hadn't been feeling good about my photography lately, not so much the act of it, just that I felt my skills were deteriorating and I didn't know how to get back into that groove. So I took a break, taking some simple photos to get my groove back and yesterday I decided to try and go a bit further, returning to some old familiar friends, much like the Doctor here. So that alone makes this photo quite special for me, despite the inaccuracies (using the 1970s Daleks instead of the 1960s...that's because I've only got two 1960s Daleks at my disposal, and one of those is from "The Chase").

Could this be one of my best First Doctor pictures? Perhaps, although I do love how well lit and posed it is, conveying just what I wanted in terms of the story.
