Description There are several important moments in Superman's comics history that can't be ignored: his first appearance, John Byrne's Man of Steel mini-series, teaming with Batman for the first time in the pages of World's Finest Comics, and his marriage to Lois Lane (both in the Pre-Crisis era and in the 1998 Wedding Album comic event). Perhaps the one that a defining aspect on Superman going forward was his death at the hands of Doomsday in 1993. The backstory in the editorial offices at DC had it that while such a notion of killing the company's flagship character had been bandied about as a joke, it became a reality due to the fact that plans in motion to have Lois and Clark marry were kiboshed when the TV series Lois & Clark had similar ideas in mind. The fallout from the storyline is that Clark came back with a mullet, and the storyline introduced both Steel and the Superboy clone, both going on to headlining their own solo titles and being significant characters in their own rights. But the "Death and Return" storyline would probably be considered a harbinger for many of the big events and changes that would occur throughout the 1990s to Superman, from his eventual belated wedding to being split into two separate electrical entities to experiencing increases and decreases in his powers and so forth. While this time may be memorable for me from a nostalgia point of view (four Superman comics a month, that's one each week for one ongoing adventure) I can see now why 90s Superman isn't well thought of in hindsight.

Anyway, after what was a long-butt time I had finally gotten the Mattycollector exclusive "Final Figure" Doomsday Unleashed. and it honestly sat in the package for months til very recently when I finally felt the need to do a picture with it. And much like how that storyline came to be a definitive moment for the Man of Steel, I feel like this one is probably my "definitive" Superman picture showing off his two main attributes: flight and super-strength. I've done both separately but to show off his powers like this has been a top goal of mine I've finally achieved.

Take that,Doomsday. Sucks that DC nowadays wants to have New 52 on their belt.
