Description Regarding the fifth entry in the series, I was originally going to do "Pyramids of Mars". Its my personal favorite and I've been developing what I wanted to do and show for it but I ended up waiting a bit, because as I developed it I realized there's a couple different directions I could go in for it.

Tom's fifth serial, and the fourth for his debut season, is no slouch either. In fact, I think I have a closer connection to it than "Pyramids"; in my last semester at college, I wrote an essay about the Daleks for a class on monsters. "Genesis of the Daleks" got the lion's share of the discussion, not because it was the best written and easily dissectable example, but because it was a crackling good Dalek story at a time when the Doctor's enemies were shifting away from the old standbys into the reliance on newer threats.

The story completes what I consider the trifecta that establishes how Tom Baker portrays the Doctor: beginning with "The Ark in Space" where viewers are introduced to his brilliance amid rampant eccentricity (also introducing the beginning of that Gothic horror fascination of Hinchcliffe and Holmes), furthered into the heroic action hero of "The Sontaran Experiment" and completed with "Genesis" with the Doctor mediating on the rights and wrongs of destroying a society and the sanctity of life, a running pattern throughout the Fourth Doctor's tenure. There's still overtures of Pertwee, as would be until the conclusion of this season (given that almost all of the stories during Season 12 were commissioned when Barry Letts and Terrance Dicks were still at the helm, more than likely during Pertwee's Season 11) but that's not necessarily a bad thing, given that the vibes of the stories would have been completely different had Pertwee been there to ask "Do I have the right?" Tom Baker adds the right amount of gravitas necessary to make the line seem not cheesy or heavy handed, but in a moment deserving of "Woah".

Looks just like the TV scene! And great background lab!
And Thank You for appreciating my Ten and Rose figures outdoor scenes! (I have a lot more but I need to get them saved before I can post them).

"Don't touch that switch!"    "Why not?"  "It controls my life support systems. I could not survive thirty seconds without them."  "Order the destruction of the incubator section!"  "Destroy the Daleks? Never!"   The Doctor turns the switch off for about 5 seconds, then turns it back on.  "I mean it, Davros, next time I press that switch, it stays pressed, now give the order!"

Thank you!

Amazingly I had planned to do one of these a week when I started this project. Good thing the deeper I get and the more intricate stories I chose I have to take my time and stage everything

Only problem I have with it is the figure looks a tich darker than the actual Wisher mask was. Otherwise, it was nice to finally retire my new series Davros to have the original article in his proper placement in the display

I'm lazy, I'd just use the "New" Davros for everything. He hasn't appeared enough anyway, Julian Bleach was great.... the only good thing in a crap story. I don't really miss RTD XD;;

God...

Well caught.

Reading this is shows a man with passion and interest - and I always admire passion and interest.

This is Dr Who's "Goldfinger" moment; where the show is not a show no more but has evolved into something more substancial. I remember seeing this a number of times and it is just a chilling episode; its the Nazi nightmare of anhiliation combined with genetic experimentation as the Tharls/Skaros evolve into the blobs inside the terror casing meets nuclear war - and back in the 70's we all thought that some fool was going to press the button.

The height of this was when the Doctor came out of the lab with something attached to his throat - just as the film Alien became famous for such terror. Enough to make anyone hide behind the sofa.

Also here is a terrifying and disturbing story; all is powerplay and all is terror and horror. It is bleak as bleak can get but it is a sensible reasoning.

The re-enactment here is spot on - almost real; even down to the shimmering of the sets!

Excellent sir!

Thank you for this lovely comment!

Indeed, when I sat down to write my essay on the Daleks, I realized just how far those connections to Fascism and especially the Second World War actually extended. The story itself is still such a timely piece of writing nearly forty years on, as we as a society have evolved to a point where we could any day now become just like the Daleks...a truly terrifying circumstance to say the least.

I actually have a mock-up of that moment you describe with the Dalek mutant strangling the Doctor. Its not very good but was part of a photoset I put on Tumblr that included Sarah Jane as part of the scenario.

Again, thank you for your kind words and encouragement!

You're welcome! I know how you feel. I wanted to make a proper Pertwee era comic strip for a long time and once the Three Doctors set was released I purchased it immediately and once it arrived my dream became reality.
