Wonderful work and the haze softens the shapes beautifully.

This makes me think "LEGO sculpture in non-Euclidean space"

I finally got a chance to try Mandelbulb 3D after seeing so many cool fractals by you and others! Wowwww it's such a cool program! It's fun to explore fractals in the navigator window! I much to learn about 3D fractal math and how to use all the many light settings, but I'm excited to learn it all!

Have fun with MB3D There are plenty of resources on DA if you look for help
Take it slowly, as an advice

Ahh I never responded to this!

Whenever I get back to MB3D I definitely plan to look for tutorials on this stuff. I also plan to try some of the parameters you post to learn about more settings.

Some things I plan to research are:
1. I understand some lighting concepts like diffuse/specular reflections. However, I have no idea how to use lighting effectively, whether in 3D fractals or 3D modeling in general. I'm particularly curious on how to make shiny metal surfaces with reflections.
2. I'd like to learn the math behind these different fractal formulas. I just took a course on complex numbers so that'll help.
3. I'm also interested in learning about how the rendering algorithm works for MB3D. The readme mentions "distance estimates". Is that like raymarching or some other form of raycasting algorithm?

Would you have any recommendations on tutorials/articles about any of the above? That would help me narrow down my search a bit.

Great. Good low saturation look. Like a Menger roller coaster.
