Description The one above is a newborn. The one below is few month old baby.

I made this, because I saw, that most of people who try to draw centaur-children think that arrival should be ready to stay and walk, just like a newborn horse. They can't join this newborn-horse-part (ready to run) with a newborn-human-part (that can't even lift his head) - so they usually decide to join it with a torso of of few-month-old human baby.

Well, I can't say they can't draw it their own way - it's their imagination, not mine. But if you think about centaurs as creatures real enough to give birth - why not thinking in more logical way? Most of mammal arrivals (like cats, dogs, rodents etc.) can't even stay on their own right after being born. Horses are against the grain, because they give birth in the open space (full of predators) and stand up right after that. The arrival need to stand as well, to get to his mother's milk. But my centaurs are born at home, where there's mummy and daddy to care and protect them. That's why I see no reason to not let my centaur be born earlier even if his human-arrival torso joint to horse-fetus part (I know it looks nothing like a horse fetus, I used no reference, but please try to imagine it is, to get the whole idea). There's so many things he can learn, see and hear when being outside the mother's womb, why would I not give him the chance? And after few month, when his human part is strong enough to stay straight - his horse part is ready to stay too, and the baby can finally learn to walk.

So who do they come to when giving birth? The doctor, or the vet?

Centaur-doctor I guess. But, if not avialiable, the vet-gynae with human-neonatologist support should be okey too

i agree this is vary useful thank you i think people who draw an infant use a few mouth old baby instead because is not so easy to draw a baby, the conversion zone is a little strange and just doesn't feel right. but i think your right the infant centaurs are vulnerable in every way just like humans

I'm happy you liked that idea!
You may be right that a little baby is too difficult for many people to draw, mayby that's the main reason why they usually draw newborn centaurs the way they do? I wouldn't think about it myself (I think babies are as easy to draw as sleeping kitties - but I was drawing cats for few years)

lovely idea. exactly what i was thinking-centaurs are an intelligent species, and the smarter an animal is, usually the babies are more helpless when they are born.

Well, I'm not sure if it's good enough to be any real reference, because I didn't use any either... But still I'm happy if it could be helpful for you! Thank you for your comment
